Been meaning to ask for ages on here, the local police cars around here (bedfordshire) have these weird "cartoon starfish" stickers on each corner of the bumper and sometimes in the back window. I think it's just the Volvo/Skoda Traffic cars and not the Vauxhall run-abouts

What the hell are they for? I don't have a picture but "cartoon starfish" is a best as I can describe it, either that or a florescent orange squishy blob

I'm fairly sure they're armed response, at least thats what they told my brother when he asked.

Surely just an attempt to be 'down' with the 'kids'

Around here they are a day-glo round sticker in the top of the front and rear windscreen - means armed response.

I believe it's meant to be visible from the air (helicopter) also.

Yellow dots identify ground traffic and an asterix for helicopters is what wiki says for ARV's

Surely. The kids can't get enough of those orange pentagon-type shapes.

Wow, that answers my question and concerns me greatly, pretty much every single one I see has the stickers on. Does it mean armed as in with a gun or just maybe a taser?

I'm not far away in Bucks, same here, most of the marked cars seem to be ARV, the other traffic cars seem to be mainly unmarked so maybe easily unnoticed.

Why would it concern you? Surely knowing armed police are nearby would make you feel safe not alarmed?

Does that mean those cars always have armed response in, or just the car could have armed response in though?

I think they are normally set up to hold weapons so have cabinets etc. built into them.

Around here ARV crews have a Glock 17 and Taser worn at all times, a pair of MP5s and a G36 in the cabinet to be deployed when authorised.
