for my land to convert to a holiday dwelling, there's none on ebay, where does one look?
http://www.wnxx.com/forsale/index.htmKeep an eye on DB Cargo's disposal list:

This place has weird and wonderful things, including railway items:

Some of those really are in a sorry state!Could be problems buying some of the better ones from a non-commercial organisation as they can get emotionally attached and the prospect of losing a bit of railway history to an outsider who wants to use it off track may be too much to bear for some.
Still, money talks. Best of luck!
keep it in good nick and they'll probably buy it back when all the ones still 'awaiting preservation' have rotted away

Be careful with buying a coach from that railway, anything could have happened in it http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3021726/Fu...
Does anyone have a link to the film so I can double check it is indeed Epping Ongar historic railway?

Even if you locate a (good) one, have you enquired as to the cost of transporting it?Won't be cheap.

Potentially the scrapyard on Barry Island? Used to be Woodham's I believe, no idea if it's still around.
I thought Woodhams had been built on many years ago. I remember walking through there a couple of times as a kid when we were on holiday in nearby Butlins, you could just wander around through all the rusting steam locos back then. http://www.carriage-exchange.org.uk/stock.htm few links on there also
email heritage railways, most will have a mark 1 coach they want shot of,try looking at those away from the coast as salty air turns steel coaches to rust very fast. for haulage you are looking at either alleys or reid freight. The stuff at dawlish is rotten beyond belief, even the underframes are wafer thin
also if you are buying ask for the asbestos report as removing the blue stuff costs mega £££ and a lot of coaches were built with rather a lot of it. as for rebuilding, you can expect to be doing welding, the framework sections are available off the shelf the panels are relatively easy to weld in. Interior building is pretty straightforward if you are a joiner, bit like rebuilding a caravan
