I missed a delivery coming via Yodel yesterday and they left an orange card (may fault, I had to go out). I've entered the red number into their website and it gives me option dates to rearrange the delivery, but the earliest day is tomorrow. But according to their online tracking it still says delivery estimate: 'today', and their faq section implies that they automatically try and redeliver the next day anyway. So, do I wait in today and plan work appointments for tomorrow and Friday, or rearrange delivery for tomorrow and stay in then as well?

They usually attempt delivery again the next day. Most likely their website will only give you an redlivery option of tomorrow onwards because the package is already logged as out for redilvery today.

Or they've lobbed it over the nearest wall already?

Normally when they do that, they at least tell me so on the card!

They don't automatically deliver the first time....so god knows what your chances are.

I believe the answer is 'it depends'. The driver might keep the parcel in his van and try several times (especially if you live in a area with several other deliveries) or they might just take it straight back to the depot and hope someone else gets it the next day.

Even getting a postcard through the letterbox saying it is going back to the depot can't be believed.

With Yodel you appear to have an equal chance of them launching your parcel into space as delivering it.

I didn't believe all of the stories about incompetence until I had the misfortune of using them myself. Now I understand.

To be fair, I've not had any issues with Yodel for several years at least. The tracking on their website now says it's out for delivery again today, which seems promising.

That's if they even attempt delivery in the first place. Last week I was in the house, happened to be walking past the front door when a 'sorry we missed you' card fell through the letter box. Opened the front door to see the delivery man scurrying up the front path. Words were shouted.

In the hope of not being banished I must confess that I have done some work for yodel. They have got very strict on where to leave parcels now. The parcel should be attempted 3 times before being sent to depot for collection.

Hermes on the other hand........

Just moved over from Hermes and amazed at the difference. Only do it so I have something to do in the mornings before my afternoon shift at work.

Further to my earlier post, whilst I can avoid using them to send things unfortunately something I have bought is supposed to be delivered by Yodel.

For 9 days they've had it now, with no delivery attempts made. I don't live in the country, I live in the middle of a city where other couriers have no problems delivering on time. They don't provide any means of contacting either the depot or the drivers so it's impossible to find out what is going on.

Normally they provide a web chat where someone in another country can tell you what you already know from looking at the web tracking history, but even that has been unavailable (busy, apparently) every time I've looked at the website.

Surely it's about time someone sorted this company out, they have been this incompetent since they were known as Securicor.

Expecting a parcel yesterday.
I watched the 'countdown' on their tracking webpage.
It got down to 7 and then "sorry we missed you, we've left a card".
They didn't try to deliver and they didn't leave a card,
and today the tracking is ambiguous about a re-delivery.

I've never had anything but problems with Yodel. Mind you, I missed a Parcelforce delivery last week. Card through letterbox said it would be collectable at the Post Office at the end of the road, but no time given. I went at 2.15pm, counter person said he normally comes in about 3pm and I needed to go back after then. Went back at 5.45pm, he had been, but my parcel was nowhere to be found. They tried calling him, but no answer and said he may have perhaps taken it to the other Post Office in town, despite the card message. Anyway, they took my mobile number and said they'd call me in the morning when they had spoken to him. Turned out, despite the card message, he had left it in the van overnight.

So interlink delivered me a parcel Thursday (marked fragile) but clearly dropped and item damaged inside. The seller sent out a new item next day delivery but I missed it (I don't believe he tried my neighbour who was in all day) and then it turns out they won't redeliver on Saturdays, you cannot collect on a Saturday either so I won't now see the item until Monday, a weekend in the warehouse so I'm expecting my fragile item to be broken again frown

I reckon there's going to be a repeat performance tonight;
it's 18.25 and there's still 59 people in front of me rolleyes.

I rang Amazon who sent the item and they said that if it doesn't arrive tonight
they will express out another item using a different carrier.
