09 V8 Vantage - heaters/blowers

Just wondering if this is an aspect of the car or whether something is wrong.
The heater blowers don't get very warm and aren't particularly strong either - so driving with the hood down in winter is a rather chilly affair. The blowers seem rather asthmatic - and if you have the footwell and/or windscreen on at the same time as the front vents - the front ones seem to hardly blow at all. The heat coming from the footwell when you have them turned on seems rather weak too.
Another (perhaps unrelated) problem is that the outside temperature readout on the centre console seems way off. It was reading 53 degrees today when the outside temperature was probably around 5 or 6. I have seen it do this from time to time and then it'll be correct at other times. It's almost as if it's reading the engine bay temperature rather then the temperature of the outside air. I don't know whether this reading is used to control the heaters - hence why I mention it.

Sounds t me like your outside temperature thermostat is gone. IIRC it's located near the front edge of the engine compartment and is quite a cheap repair ( I've had two go, one under warranty).
The second time I was told it's a DIY job so can't be difficult.
When mine went it did effect the heating/cooling if the interior of the car. That would be my starting point if I was you!

Hi, thanks but a google search suggests that's a water thermostat rather than the ambient air temp sensor. My fault for inaccurate wording - said theremostat, meant temp sensor. There are two different items being suggested on this thread!
Ah, sorry.I'm seeing two listed. 4G43-19E642-AA, or 7G33-19E642-AA "from C04526". The second one may have superseded and replaced the 4G43* one. Prices are ~5 GBP apart (7G33* is higher).

You have to contact them to verify part numbers, though.I bought a new ambient air temp sensor from my local main dealer in the end (a bit cheaper than astonmartinbits) - problem solved; outside air temp reading on the dash is working again, and the heating heats the car up better I think (presumably it takes the exterior temp into account, and previously thought it was roasting outside!).

Hi, it's behind the front grille. It's quick/straightforward to get to it - basically remove the slam panel (the panel with the nameplate on). Then just unplug the old one and plug in the replacement.Thanks

I removed the panel and thought it would be obvious - but couldn't really see anything that was accessible without removing more stuff (e.g. the front grille or the silver bar covering the hood catch)Does the sensor just clip on?

I had two replaced under warranty Does the sensor just clip on?

the last time the mechanic told me it's a very easy fix under the slam panel. You're in the right area I suppose!
