Hi all,

A work colleague has a similar car to mine and is asking for advice with a fault, it's a 2009 Audi S6 (V10 C6 Saloon) and his is throwing a P0030 code, which is the heater circuit for the O2 (lambda) sensor in position: bank 1, sensor 1.

Does anyone know where this sensor is located and whether it's a DIY job to change or a garage job?

Found a pic that might give a general indication, seems like bank 1 is driver's side (for RHD cars) and the numbering starts at the front, S1 is in the downpipe between the engine and the pre-cat, S2 is immmdiately after the pre-cat and S3 is just after the main cat.

Yup. This is likely to be engine out. Which isn't a quick job, but not uncommon. You "might" be able to get up on the probe from under the car. But Id be wanting access to a ramp for that at the very least.

And Bank1 is bank1 whether LHD or RHD smile And on R8 Bank 1 is still the OS of the car.

Bank one is only the O/S of the car if you drive your car on the left side of the road, isn't it?

Bank 1 would be N/S in a country where they drive on the right, e.g. the US (which is where many of the helpful Audi forums I've found are based).

That's why I specified which side it was of the car it was. wink

As far as i know the first o2 sensor is the one that is used to control fueling when in closed loop mode, so yes it needs it to run properly. The 2nd and 3rd are to monitor the operation of the precat/cat so are less important.
