How many franchise reboots have given the quality and feeling of the original?
Especially of movies from the 80s.

Sorry, but it's a fan made spoof.

I love the BTTF films, but if we see another one it'll be a (probably terrible) reboot.

Christopher Lloyd is nearly 80 and I don't believe in great health and of course Michael J Fox has his own health issues.

I think I'll treat myself to another watch this weekend with the eldest.

£10 says if it is made (or they reboot it) it'll have a female lead.

The whole "going on a date with your parent" plotline will have a whole new meaning..........'come to daddy' biggrin

I thought Robert Zemekis said there will be no reboot while he's still alive, as he hates the idea.

Robert Zemeckis made a smart move keeping the rights, hopefully he will never succumb to the quick paycheck and let them make another.

If they were going to do it, then I would have liked it to be released in 2015, i.e. the 30 years forward from the original 1985 start point smile

13 quid on itunes for all 3 in HD, that's my weekend's viewing sorted.

That might have been cool, I wouldn't have a problem leaving the cinema only to discover I'd still need roads where I'm going.
Top of my head:
It could start with a current day (only set in the flying car version of 2015 in BTTF2) MJF / MM sat on a bench next to the 3D Jaws19 video wall, waiting for a CGI 1985 MM to walk past, once he sees him he strolls the other way to where he knows the Deloren is parked, gives Biff a dig "not this time Biff" and heads back to the old west to see Doc 'one more time'.

In his hand is a scan of an old newspaper with Doc's Obituary, Marty sets the time circuit to a few days before, hits 88mph and disappears.

Back in 1915 (30 years on from the time of BTTF3) Marty goes to Doc who tells him off for messing with the future / past again, and warns him that you cannot really fix time as they thought in the past – when they changed things previously they didn’t fix anything, they just changed it to nearer the way things should have been but it was still a new time line and because of the butterfly effect people they’ve never met have suffered very badly because of their actions or never existed at all.

However Doc is pleased to see him, Marty offers him a 21st Century remedy that could prolong his life by decades, but Doc tells him Clara passed a few months back and how the Old West is dead and he’s not looking forward to the future any more – The Great War is just starting and all the horrors that will come with that, but he’s enjoyed life since the events of BTTF3 and there’s a bit of a Forrest Gump esq montage of him between 1885 and 1915 witnessing some big events, but unable to do anything to change them through fear of altering the timeline, he does however admit to giving Einstein a few pointes in 1905 with a wink and mutters “Annus Mirabilis” under this breath.

Doc dies, his final words warn Marty that the only way to really fix time would be to have never meddled with time at all Marty buries him next to Clara and returns to the cave where his stashed the DeLorean, the same one his used back in 1885 and finds and old arrow under the dust he smiles and kicks it away, this time the car starts and he’s heading across the plains heading towards 88 MPH .

Back in 2015 and things aren’t how he left them, because Biff didn’t go back to 1955 with the Alamac, Marty didn’t go back to fix that loop which changed the time line again – every action has consequences, Marty learns that you can’t simply just go back, change a few things and ‘fix’ the timelines – you can only create new ones and begins to accept the current version of 2015 (which is fairly st) is the ‘correct’ one even if it’s not, after a while though he realises the horrors of the current 2015 and decides the risk is worth taking, heads back to 1985 .

In the final scene we see current day Marty sneaking about the car park of the mall where Doc and Marty filmed the first time travel, we see them in the background – after Einstein returns after a minute of time travel and whilst Doc and Marty are distracted 2015 Marty breaks something in the back of the DeLorean – the Terrorists arrived, Doc is killed, Marty escapes in the DeLorean, but this time it doesn’t time travel, he just heads home to find the FBI at his door – they confiscate the DeLorean, remove the plutonium and crush it as a unlicensed dangerous device. 2015 Marty fades out of existence, this time, the original time line is resorted and 1985 Marty looks to the future unknowing what it will bring.

This; as a DeLorean owner, he turns up at events (mostly US) side and has been asked a number of times about it. There are a couple of recent documentaries; one about the films and one about the restoration of the "A" car - he's in both and says any further sequel will be over his dead body. The recent (and on going) comics are official continuations anyway, so that's all we'll get. I hope.

Is it sad that I recognise the drifting scene at the end from F&F Tokyo Drift?

OK, now I've seen the linked article...Romancing the Stone, no! One of the best action films of the 80s, probbaly the only modern uptake that matches up to Indy. (Though I do like Sahara)

Some of these fill me with dread. Gender reversal for films isn't that bad.
THe Mary Poppins one, difficult to say, but since it is from the original material, could be good, but then does one follow the original material and ignore the iconic film, like Return to Oz?
Wargames, could be amazing...in the right hands
Commando sounds like a piece of st, 21st-century Commando will be "less brawny, but more skilled in covert tactics and weaponry." We've had dozens of films like that, COmmando was successful because of AhNold and his muscles.

Wild Bunch...with Will SMith!!!!!! cry

I promise, that came out of my brain pretty much as I typed it - the whole 'fix everything by undoing the actions of the first 3 films' sort of came last so I went back and added Docs final words.

I spend a lot of my day writing multi page boring IT proposals, sometimes I come over all creative when I get 'writers block' trying to explain MS 365 for thousandth time that week and I write other stuff. Most of it I just delete when I'm finished, but I've had the odd thing 'published' as a blog for a cycling website. It either comes out as I type or not at all.
