In praise of the Citroën CX door mirror.
Discussion
Last time I needed bits for mine, I had to go via Marcos Owners Club. Must check where I can get spares as need to rebuild the OS base due to walking into it. Can you get new ones?
I have also found that in my cars, the Lotus Esprit (OK Marina) door handle is present on my:
Esprit, Allegro, and Scimitar,

Can I just say that I really like how the CX itself is fifth on the list?
You may! CX is a funny car for me, loved them when I was a kid, then thought I was mistaken and they were just too quirky and odd.
Now want one a bit, like 11th car in my dream garage, but still there!
Not just the S4 TVR , the S3s had them as well. The earlier short-door S series cars had various other mirrors including the infamous “rabbit ears”.
CX mirrors are quite hard to come by now, unfortunately most scrappies now understand their value. S series TVR owners will identify with this phenomenon - the front indicators on the S were originally used on Sherpa vans - they now reach astronomical prices.
As always with TVRs there is a parts-bin solution eg MX5 door mirrors and BMW 3 series/ Kia front indicator lenses. Happily the rear lens clusters are off the Mk3 Escort and are cheap to source but they are far less liable to damage than those on the sharp end.
Incidentally Scotty 2 the aluminium base of the mirror is still available from Citroen but not cheap..£50ish from memory. Having spent some time in a Mantis myself you are probably aware that Marcos added an additional spacer at the base of the mirror - otherwise your view would have been of those wonderful rear arches only...
