I've put my name in the hat 4 times and have never got a place..

Anyway, next year it clashes with the Dunwich Dynamo which is always going to take first place for me.

I could apply and defer my application if by some miracle I got accepted this time. smile

Oh....I didn't know that you could do that. Thanks for the heads up.

Since it's run by the same people that do the London Marathon, it's prone to the same nonsense of a ballot!

Surely the way to do it is to turn on the website and take the first 20K entries!

That way you reward the people who will make an effort to get up early and apply. The same people that are likely to train for it.

You still have 10K places to sell to charities so anyone that wants to go in that way can sign up more leisurely and raise money.

In contrast I recently entered a Triathlon for next year (Roth) which sold out in less than a minute. (5K entries only!) I was lucky because I knew what time the site opened and I was sitting READY at the moment it went live. It's not difficult it just requires some foresight.

Last year I put in 4 applications. I got 3 commiserations and 1 congratulations. However, thanks to a cock up on when payment was due I lost the place, but I wasn't fussed to be honest as I doubt I could better my experience of 2015.I have put in a few entries for next year as it's time I did it again.

Still trying to decide if I am going to enter again for next year. Really enjoyed this year, but because I have a young family I had to get up very early on a weekend to train for it, which I did not enjoy so much.

But then my official time was 5:18 this year, so would be great to achieve a sub 5 hour time thumbup

Saw this email. Though think it was a one time thing for me just to get a taste of the closed road element. I feel like I really made the most of that also. So not sure how it could be any better another year for me.

The only issue being that if I want to ride on that day I have to ride into Kent given I live on the route almost, I hate Kent!

Nothing wrong with Kent (although the hills around Biggin Hill/Ide Hill can be a little difficult!)

Those Kentish hills are a great training area to prepare for Box and Leith when the day comes.
I was surprised at the hype of the Surrey hills after I had ridden them.

Kiethon, good news from the "institute" I hope?

They aren't the big ones! Whitedown and Barhatch are near by, both much harder than Leith. And another route up the side of Leith called Tanhurst Lane, worth a try. There's a few near the M25 too around Caterham/Westerham...

I've applied every year, not got in on the ballot once. Applied again, for me it's too good an event not to at least try, and I haven't done it since the storm year.
