Morning
I've ordered a cayenne platinum 3.0 diesel which was due this week. I'm now told that there's a delay until the end of October, which could be longer. Apparently a software issue with the Diesel engine that affecting all 3.0's and there are 17 cars delayed from chester alone.
'Compensation' has so far extended to the offer of a suitable car until the new one arrives and an attaractjve deal on an S version. I'm awaiting details of this.

Is anyone on here in the same boat? What are you being offered? Any more details of the reason for the delay?
Cheers
Rob

I believe it is an emissions software issue (Panamera Ds are also unavailable having been removed from the Porsche Configurator).

I know nothing about your driving pattern, but I would seriously consider a petrol as opposed to diesel.

Porsche unlikely to offer a diesel option in the new Cayenne.

I think that says it all really.

I would switch to a petrol or wait for the new hybrid.

Christ alone knows where the residual will be on these in 18 months time...

I would personally consider cancelling the order as I think you are perfectly within your rights to do so on these grounds.
If at best it turns up in 3 months you will have a car that is being replaced within a couple of months and seeing as you can buy a 17 plate platinum edition with a few thousand miles for under £60k and no doubt there will be a lot of pre reg cars appearing towards the end of the year before the new model arrives it will be costing you thousands of pounds before you have even taken delivery at no fault of your own.

You could see if they would agree to register your car as a pre reg and you buy it at a huge discount over list this way it will compensate the money that you would have lost?

I think that Porsche will release a diesel version of the new Cayenne as soon as the latest emission saga is cleared up.

^^^ This is what I would be interested in. The V8d makes the Cayenne a very quick SUV. Fuel economy isn't too bad either - approx 10-15% less mpg than V6d.. but a lot of gain in power and torque - which is very noticeable. I wouldn't worry either that theres a new model Cayenne - cost difference and waiting times will be greater.

Is the S a stock car?
You can buy 17 reg with less than 100 miles for under £70k so would want a monster deal!

I think that is very poor from your dealer to just ignore the fact that you car won't be ready as you thought and would not be happy at all.
I would vent to the sales manager and see what they offer.

My OPC deffo would give you a loan car in this case....and it would be something from Stuttgart. Can't believe they've only just told you.

Neither have i. There's a lot of scaremongering going on about the diesel at the moment. The diesel cars are very efficient and low on CO2 emissions.
No diesel in the range would be a headliner!

When I spoke to Reading about my new 2018 Cayenne, they were still expecting the V8 diesel to follow hot on the heels of the petrol versions. They did say there was a lot of uncertainty about the future of the V6 diesel, pointing out that it was now impossible to order a 958 Cayenne with the V6D, and also that there was still no V6 Panamera diesel. However the Macan Diesel is still firmly there on the website, and I'd be surprised if Porsche would kill off the most affordable Cayenne diesel given that it sold like hot cakes last time around.

It's very confusing and unhelpful, I agree. I'm just glad I'd already made the decision to go back to petrol before the new car was announced.

Probably did not make it into UK news but German authorities issued a ban on the 3.0 Cayenne Diesel at the end of July. Under the ban German authorities will no longer allow registration of newly produced Cayennes with that engine and I would expect that given the importance of the German market Porsche may have reduced or stopped production altogether. Might be worth asking the dealer if and how the delay is related to the ban for the German market. Happy to provide links to German press articles you could read using google translate.

Interesting and that surely explains it.

I agree with Fokker on the diesel scaremongering....if your car is Euro 6 compliant I don't think there's that much to worry about. What I do think will happen though is that with diesel scrappage schemes and things like taxis moving away from diesel demand for it as a fuel is gradually going to go down. Which means it's going to get significantly cheaper at the pumps compared to petrol.

When they refine a barrel of oil they roughly get twice as much petrol as diesel out of each barrel with things like aviation fuel making up the balance and it's a pretty set ratio i.e. they can't just refine less diesel.

So mine should have been here
September
October
November
December
Will it be here in January? Who knows
In the interim porsche gave me a 320d. Threat of cancellation has resulted in a macan s Diesel.
Not impressed with the delivery situation or the macan for that matter- what a dull, dull car.

Sorry to hear that you still haven't got your car which was supposed to be delivered in September. Probably my car will take another couple of months as it was due in October. The reason for delay given by my dealer is emmision software update..Ive been offered a replacement car too. Has anyone been offered anything more attractive..also keen if at all anyone has got the delivery of Porsche cayenne platinum edition after September.
