Long time lurker here. Just called into Rolex in lounge 2 at Schiphol hoping to stumble across an LV sub. They had a batman GMT in and on today's exchange rate it would have been a shade over £6k. I was tempted, but picked up a black GMT last month.

Seems you can still get a bargain, but it's all about luck and timing.

Calling again next week!

Was passing through Schipol in August and popped into Gassan Rolex Boutique. They had just received a delivery (Friday afternoon) and the salesman was literally just unboxing a D-blue, which he showed me and said would be gone within 30 minutes. So I bought it on the spot and saved about £500 over UK list.

I was travelling to vegas through heathrow in june and still kicking myself- having a quick look round the watch shop and they had a sub-date that I could have got for £5,200!! I didn't want to be £5k in the hole before even landing in vegas so decided not to buy it. gutted.

I've got a lay over at Paris CDG later this month. I see there is a Rolex dealer in the same terminal (2E). Anyone any views as to whether there's likely to be a deal?

Do you need to be flying out of the EU to get the best price though?

Got my Sea Dweller there around 78, at that time £200. Yup two hundred quid.

Not at Schiphol. It's presented as 'tax free', but basically it is just a discount equivalent to VAT.

Best time to pass through is apparently Friday late afternoon as that is when the shipments come in, as explained to me by the sales guys, and by the two cases mentioned here.

I got my 16600 SD there years ago (2003) on my way to a weekend in London, saved me about 600 EUR. One of my best mates based in London used to travel a lot to Amsterdam for work, and often was at Schiphol late Friday afternoon on his way home. Managed to get two SS Daytona's at a nice discount this way. And this was at the time when there was a solid demand for the SS Daytona (believe it was 05 - 06 ish) and getting one at discount without the whole waiting list theater was pretty much unheard of.
