The seatbelts in my car are bloody awful. They lock up so you can’t get them tight, if you reach or stretch they don’t ‘tension back’. To be fair they were always crap. As a friend was recently seriously hurt in a classic car with no seatbelts I’m thinking of an upgrade.

Has anybody done this, if so what did you fit please?

One easy fix is to lift the belt away from the carpet behind the seat. Dragging on the carpet causes the belt to run slowly and makes it difficult to release when it lock up. I also added some channels to make access easier

The bend in the plate is to take account of the upward sweeping angle of the original top mounting point surface. Without the bend the extension plate would exert a downward leverage on the original mounting socket. The bend was made in my garage using a vice and hammer so it isn't very precise but the leverage issue relates to the shoulder hight of the wearer so perfection isn't important. I just aimed for both bolt holes to be horizontal when in fitted

The easy access guides were made many years ago, they are 'handed' and made out of spare materials I had in stock. The round bar is welded into the plate

Or use a rosejoint and one of those ebay brackets.

The subject has been repeatedly done in these forums. These mentioned solutions are all viable and suitable.

Thanks for the help guys.

I’m not a diy sort of guy so I’ll see what the local garage can do. I will show them your pictures.

Has anyone fitted these?

I was wondering if they are any good and if they allow the seatbelts to retract as they should and if they stop the hood from fouling the belts?
