Dear members of the Aston Martin forum

I am looking for brake pads for my RAPIDE S.

I am interested in aftermarket parts because the oem parts are very highly priced.

Does someone know if EBC or other brand have brake pads for this model?

On the Website of EBC i cannot find a maching pad.

Thanks for your support.

Which country are you in ?

I believe you can get the OEM pads for less than dealer prices......in the UK at least.

I live in Switzerland and all parts for AM are extremly expensive.

They charge around 1400 Euro for the brake pads of the front axle without fitting!!

Can you tell me a UK source?

Kind regards

I'm not sure but I imagine they'll be Brembo calipers. The Vantage uses the same front calipers as fitted to the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, and rears used also on the Mk1 Ford Focus RS - plenty of aftermarket choice for these so could be worth a try?

The brake discs on my RAPIDE S are steel discs not CCM like the VANQUISH for example.

Thanks for all the help so far but it seems diifficult to find matching brake pads.

The search goes on.....

Best wishes from Switzerland

Urs - did you find any pads? I believe the 6 pot calipers are Brembo and also used by AMG. I'm trying to source Porterfield R4-S pads for it having successfully put these on the rear already. They are giving me 2 different part numbers though so need to get to the bottom of it - they are £300...

It's AP-1291. What other part number are they giving you?

They told me AP1291 last year too Rich (same as many an AMG) when I was doing research but they just told the local distributor they are AP1426 which seem a Range Rover pad? Cheers.

The AP-1426 is a Range Rover pad and a bit different than the AP-1291 that you need. The 1426 might work, but the 1291 is the Porterfield pad everyone is using in Aston's 6-piston calipers.

Rich. This is what Porterfield just said: Originally we were under the impression that they were the AP1291 6 piston Brembo. But we have done a couple and came to find out they are AP1426. I have attached photos to denote the differences. The AP1291 would have fit but you would end up losing 2mm at the bottom as the heights are different.

Thanks, Ken. That's rather interesting and must be a new development. If not, someone's got some explaining to do!

They have sent me some pdfs and sketches and measurements Rich - could be useful for you - ping me your email address.

Do you know if its the same 6 pot Brembo caliper for the Rapide (part number: AD43-2D007-AB) as the Vantage V8 S?

If so its better AP1426 as its 95.9 tall and thus a better fit than 93.1 mm tall AP1291. Have the pdf's. Both similar in other respects.

Guys just updating this again for anyone it might affect the NEW Porterfield part number for Rapide fronts is AP1990. Manufacturer just told me whilst ordering:

'Now we have the true FMSI number that matches the correct size and don’t want any confusion so we have updated it to be AP1990'.

Phil - I find the Porterfields R4-S a bit too hard for the Rapide - they really need more heft on the pedal and lack initial bite/feel. Standard hard pad stuff but I think I prefer the OEMS...

This may be helpful? Not specifically Rapide but there are some good suggestions. Redpants also did a video.

it seems Rapide (no S) rear pads are the same dimensions as V8V / DB9 front pads (131.8mm x 77.3mm x 15.7mm) ??
Please could you mesure on your Rapide ?
Thanks

I had suggested previously that Rapide (S or non big bouche) rear are same as DB9 fronts - if that is indeed true then I'm sure an online search will corroborate - I'm not jacking up the car for you and pulling pad pins!

The porterfield part number was Rears AP1165 and their diag is:
