So no complaints here - I wont go in to how embarrassing it was that I was caught speeding or the instances that led to it.

End of the story is I have been caught doing 45mph in a 30mph limit. Rozzers were reasonable and fair and I help my hand up.

Looking online it says 100% of a weekly relevant wage - as a shift worker, with overtime and bonuses throughout the year, how do they calculate this figure?

Secondly, I have 0 convictions or previous - as a band B will I be offered a speed awareness course?

The incident was recorded on his tablet and I was told a letter will arrive in 2-3 weeks with the consequences but cant help but think the worst!

Anyone have any more direct information or had a similar penalty?

Speed course is only available up to 42mph in a 30 zone so you are in the fixed penalty zone. As it’s between 11 and 20mph over the posted limit that means a band B fine.

Cant help on the finer details of the fine amount I’m afraid.

An offer of a Fixed Penalty is the most likely outcome - 3 points & £100.

45 in a 30? £100/3pt FPN. You're only 3mph above tea and biccies, fertheloveofgawd. No way will it be going any heavier than that.

How do the New April 2017 changes get implemented - automatically or is there an element of discretion?

That only applies to matters proceeded to court - nothing has changed regarding Fixed Penalties.

Thanks. So why does the OP have a band B fine? OP is there more to this than a simple 45 in a 30?

He doesn't.

It appears the OP may have carried out some research and misinterpreted one or two online articles.

It’s a ‘Band B’ fine if your case goes to court, and that will only happen if you don’t pay a £100 fixed penalty or complete a course. 45/30 is too fast for a course so you should expect a fixed penalty offer.

It’s a shame that journalists failed to explain this simple concept in various articles published in April 2017.

Thanks guys and girls, Seems like I have my wires mixed up!

Looks like I have read too much into the new fines and thought FPN's were a thing of the past.

Hopefully it will be as suggested; £100 & 3points :/

After the new rules were implemented I was caught doing 55 in a 40 - held my hands up via all correspondence and received 3pts and £100.

Not in the least bit surprising. That’s called a fixed penalty. It’s not a band anything fine.
