Tornado Systems do one at £162
Powers do a mod to use the speed six sensor that’s about £250 but you’d have to check that and it’s compatability with the CUX!

So try cutting into it enough to solder it back on. Melt the plastic around that joint and see if you can get some purchase enough to get a connection then sleeve and heat shrink the lot up.

It’s an important sensor and needs to drop quickly when throttle releases etc so if yours is slow to react you really need a new one. This could be a source of your problems re fuelling for instance.

Yep I’ve heard RR specialists can get an after market version as there’s few original ones about. Still over £100 but might be the only way to go.

I had no idea they were so expensive. I had one fail recently, on my range rover, but as I have a "spare" rover v8 (perfectly good, other than the crank) in the garage I just took the TPS off that.

The other option is just to drive at less than 1,500 RPM as the TPS doesn't do anything below that speed.... I'll get me coat.

I'd be trying to fix that. Nothing to loose, you're planning to throw it away anyway. Just dremel the plastic to expose the terminal, reattach and reseal with sikaflex

When I changed mine I got a duff one from a reputable LR supplier ( other TVR specialist) but didn't know until it was connected up. This meant cutting off the connector which wasn't TVR type.

This invalidated the warranty and refused to refund even though it was duff from the start.

I'd do everything to fix the one you got first.

Frank,
Check if V8D have one, it will probably be 2nd hand but might solve your problem. They are only half an hours drive from me, you could detour to them after you've been to mine tomorrow on your way to KL?

ETA, you could also try Avenger 4x4 in Peterborough (LandRover breakers), ask for Alan, he's very helpful

Ask here if someone will give you their faulty sensor, now slowly cut the top off the faulty sensor so that you can then work out the best place to cut your sensor so as to be able to repair it, there is a good chance that the round top will cut off/out with a hot knife

Good bit of lateral thinking

Anyone got a duff sensor they can donate for an autopsy ?

Steve Sprint got a Jenvey TP11 to work from memory but best to ping him a mail as he was thinking of doing a kit of parts

I spent some time trying to find something off another car to give something near the correct voltage swing, but never found anything that would just bolt on. Might be worth a rethink looking at the prices being charged for a variable resistor!

In terms of repair, personally id use a dremel type tool with tiny drill bit and use it like a milling cutter around the break point, so hopefully it would expose enough copper wire core to make a solder joint.

Umm- Im confused now. Ive just checked a spare one I have and its rotates counter clockwise (looking from the tab at the front) against the spring, so the same way as the throttle plate moves. The only difference that Im aware of is it has the elongated holes for adjustment for the earlier 14CU ECU cant auto adjust ?? Tell me Im not going mad?
