Hi All,

i went from Uckfield in East Sussex to Uttoxeter on bank holiday monday which is by far the mos tmotorway driving i have done myself as i work local to my house.

We went up the M40 and on 2 occasions i though oops maybe i just got cuaght.

I had not noticed i had crept up to 90 and went under one of the crossings with the signs on (not sure what they are called) and not sure if it had cameras on it or not, are there alot of cameras on the m40?

secondly i was in a 50 average speed zone and think i again crept up to 60 between to of the crossings.

sorry i cant be any clearer but i have never been caught before and a lack of concentration means shall i expect some points?

Thanks
Jack

From the M25 to Birmingham the only cameras are mobile units in vans, not sure about inside the M25 as I haven't taken that stretch in about 10 years.

You are probably going to be ok, did you see any flashes? Also the speed in which you were over is probably just a speed awareness course and not points.
I drive 30k a year and have yet to be caught speeding. I generally don’t speed and am aware of cameras and the current speed limit. However there are times when I am distracted and then realise I am over the limit and then like you I panic for a couple of weeks.

Should have gone via Uxbridge, and then on to Ullapool.

my direction are next to useless, i only bought a new car (Ioniq) mainly for the satnav.

I used to give my phone to the Mrs but she still managed to read out the wrong direction to what it was giving her

The M40 is not a smart motorway yet and it’s one of the only motorways now where I see people really tanking it at 90+ regularly.

i'm not sure this is a serious post, and i'm surprised no one has torn you a new one on here yet, i won't do that, but really?

Install waze on your phone and be a bit more observant of the gantries and fly overs if you are pushing on a bit.

If Swansea have your address on the V5 you'll be in the clear if you haven't heard in 14 days. Otherwise you need to sit tight a little longer. It can take 6 months if they have to work a bit harder to find you e.g they go via a hire company, it's a company car or it's a lease and you are not the registered keeper, or you just failed to update them.

Perhaps it was after you left the M40 for the M42? That's a smart motorway with gantry cameras.
