I've had my Ranger for just over a year & I love it. For a pick-up it's very comfortable and easy to drive. I bought it second hand, and if I was to buy new again I'd probably go for front beepers. (Not that I've hit anything....yet biggrin)

Fuel economy is OK for such a big old thing. It does use a lot of Ad-Blue though. I got just 120 miles per litre on the last refill. Are there any other Ranger owners out there with real life experience they'd care to share? I've Googled what an average might be, but couldn't find anything helpful.

Assuming you are seeing 25 mpg that is approx 5 miles per litre of diesel.

120 miles per litre of adblue is single digit % adblue consumption vs diesel which is there or thereabouts for a thirsty commercial vehicle.

I think your car has a 20L tank which means filling up every 2400 miles. Buying at the pump I think that’s in the region of 15 quid a time which is good value versus what a petrol engine would cost you in lost mpg!

thumbup

I've been driving for 42 years & this is my first diesel. I'm just curious whether my truck is performing as designed.

Seems a lot that? My Audi (totally different engine I know but hey) does about 600 miles to a litre.

I guess 2 tonne of Ford is a bit more agricultural?

I think the Wildtrak looks great. Needlessly lairy and intimidating. Would love one. For a general commute to an office, I would probably look like a bit of a wally (autosuggest offered "tit", probably about right!)

There's a fairly recent post on the HonestJohn forum where an owner says he's used 100 litres in 11,000 miles.

Excuse the ignorance.....but what exactly does AdBlue do !

I have seen it for sale in my local motor factors, but I have no idea what it is used for !

it is injected into the exhaust and (high level) is a reactant that contributes to the reduction of NOx

can see all this add blue being a huge liability when out of 3 years old.. more things to go wrong that only the dealer can fix..
already alarming amounts of issues with regards to sensor and doser issues plus It freezes at minus 11..

Freezing at minus 11C won't be an issue in Britain , but I agree with all the sensor issues . Costs you more in repairs than fueling a V8 , they've got better in recent years but still not reliable enough in comparison .
