Timing Chain, any recommendations?

Hi All,

A few of you may be aware of my situation....

I am now at the point where I have removed the engine and I am currently rebuilding it, new piston rings, bearing shells, the works. I thought now I've got it out I may aswell.

What timing chain kit would you recommend?

I am getting prices ranging from £80 - £350. I just need a good quality kit with everything, i.e oil pump chain too.

I have read about Febi and FAI which are the upper end of the above money scale. I have also seen a few other makes such as BGA.

Any recommendations, I don't want just to pay top dollar if there is no difference between top and lower range kits.

FAI are OK, Febi would be my choice out of that lot.


Avoid BGA.

Febi are good. They make the chains for BMW. Worth getting a quote from BMW to compare.

Febi looks like the route I'll go, from what I read you have confirmed.

I'll look around for best prices

Best price I can get for Febi is £240.00 + postage

That's everything including the oil pump chain.

Is that a good price guys?

Not bad really. The FAI can be found cheaper but if I was doing it I'd go Febi and fit and forget.
