Land Rover Defender walkaround | PH Video

Want to see more of the new Defender? Course you do - here's Dan P to talk you round it...

So the new Defender is officially here. With due respect to the Porsche Taycan, it's the biggest debut of the 2019 Frankfurt show and - to Land Rover at any rate - one of the most important model introductions to occur this decade.

Consequently, the manufacturer has had plenty of time to warm to the task, and last month it invited PH along to get to grips with the new car in person. We sent Dan P to Eastnor Castle - this is what he saw...

4wd, low and high range gear box, locking centre diff , active rear diff, ability to control throttle sensitivity, multiple driving modes including one for wading, terrain camera and even tells you how deep the water you are in.

Given all that might be ok off road, depending on tyres. smile

( Think they have done a good job here, cannot have been easy)

Its the biggest UK car launch since the Mini in 2001, so I would argue against your statement of a decade.

Also, why couldn't you pin this onto the main article, so now you have multiple threads running.

The basic one on the steel wheels looks better! You can't say that about many cars.

Watch the order books swell
Residuals on this will be incredible
Bet you could run it for 3 years and not lose much at all

Cheapest car to run?
Yes not cheap to buy but overall costs over 3 years will be cheap

110X starts at £78K
110 first addition is from £58K
I've registered my interest but seems a little pricey

UK Car? Owned by Tata (India), made in Slovakia.

I think a full electric 110 may well replace my RRS as the family wagon in the future*

* assuming my RRS lasts long enough to when full electrics versions are in production wink or doesn't get me chased out of town as it's a diesel

I love this.
Absolutely love it, it just hits the spot with me for how I want one to be.

I can’t afford a new one, but a used one will be my next car. I’m set on it now after this launch and seeing the inside and out properly.

...but drawn, modeled, designed, engineered, tested and validated in the Midlands, England. It's a British car, made abroad. Just like every other 'big' product these days. Who cares who pays for it, or who reads the instructions & screws it together - this is a car Designed & Engineered by the British just outside Coventry.
