As a music geek and film geek, I really seem to enjoy tunes with samples from films (especially if the films are good). Sat listening to U.N.C.L.E's Edit Music for a Film (which is an ace album) and it got me thinking - what other cool movie inspired tunes are out there?
Off the top of my head..
Bruce Lee MC - Quincy
To the Devil a Doughnut - King of Woolworths
Taking of Pelham 1,2,3 - DJ Food and DK (on the solid steel CD)

...But there must be loads and loads of others!

Anyone got any recommendations for Saturday night listening?

Fun Lovin' Criminals - Scooby Snacks uses bits of Pulp Fiction and Resevoir Dogs
Paolo Nutini - Iron Sky uses some of the final speech from Charlie Chaplin's the great dictator
Metallica - One, can't remember the film it samples, but that's one
Guns n Roses Madagascar uses samples of Martin Luther King speeches, though that's pushing your definition.

Dance music, and in particular hardcore/gabber is absolutely chock full of film samples.

I think you can put film titles into WhoSampled and it'll give you tons of more varied stuff.

Oh wow been a long, long time since I listened to a bass generator tape! "open the door, sit in the seat, turn the key and go!" Brings me back to my youth thinking I was bad ass because I had a Matsui ghetto blaster from the fabled pages of dreams.

I guess I was after more where the film bits are really a big part of the tune, rather than just a sample - my old D+B collection is chock full of tracks with 1 or 2 samples in (like Alien Girl, Bodyrock, Robocop, Mind Killer, etc etc etc).

^ thanks for that link though. I'm determined to find a track that samples really st bits of bad films I love now. If anyone has a "god damn sexual tyrannosaurus.... just like me" just before the drop then they stole the idea I had in 1998 whilst under the influence and playing with Frooty Loops.
Sadly, the pinnacle of my EDM creation was a remix of the right guard advert (that'll teach him for working late, nice one!) but even my friends had to tell me it was utterly cack =(

In the mid '80s Mick Jones of The Clash had a solo project, I forget what it was called but one of the tracks sampled bits of Nick Roeg's 'Performance'.

Public Service Broadcasting; most of their stuff is interspersed with audio tracks from various sources (e.g. films (Spitfire is a good example), propaganda, archive footage (Go from the Kennedy Space Centre moon landing recordings) ).

The Stranglers' "Time to Die" was going to have the speech from Blade Runner in it, but they couldn't get clearance (I forget whether it was at all, or just in time for release) so they went with something similar instead, but different enough to be OK.

Hard house doesn't have much originality when it comes to samples.

Paul Glazby - Beautiful samples Event Horizon
Lee Haslam - Music Is The Drug and BK - P.O.S 51 both sample 51st State
Paul Maddox - New York New York samples Ghostbusters
Mark Grey - 99.9 and DJ Roosta - 414All both sample Pulp Fiction

Peshay - On the Firm, samples The spawn of the Slithis.

Noise Factory - Box Opens, samples Hellraiser.

4 Hero - Journey From the Light ep, samples Empire Strikes Back.

Sub Nation - Scottie, sampled Evil Dead.

DJ Hype - Shot in the Dark Qbase remix, samples the twinkly noise used in original Star Trek when showing the Enterprise traveling.

Tango - Can't stop the Rush, samples Aliens (Let's rock!)

Will post more when I get time.

The old hardcore/breakbeat/jungle scene 92-94 ish is full of familiar samples.

There's a tune Bukem played once or twice out that uses Newt from Aliens saying " She doesn't have bad dreams, she's just a piece of plastic." that I've been trying to ID for the last 25 years without success.

Any guesses?
