PH occasionally enjoys an article on the commercial trucks, some of them somewhat over the top, that one sees the other side of the Pond.

Well, here's an interesting twist.

It's a Ford Super Duty F450 in right-hand drive.

It came trundling up the ramp at Heathrow Terminal 2 the other day. The unmistakable chatter of a full-fat diesel V8 (Power Stroke 6.7L ?) could be heard.

In a single move, the truck parked and two tactical officers, clad conspicuously unlike one's neighbourhood constable, emerged and walked off.

Keen observers will note the particular wheels and tyres on this rig. Obviously it is spec'd so as to carry on during situations in extremis.

IIRC The base price is C. £100K. However the options list is quite extensive (and expensive).

That's quite old now, looks like its got the 6.0 Powerstroke, which hasn't gained the greatest reputation.

I have seen Clive Sutton advertise F150 converted to RHD trucks

It is a pity Ford won’t sell them officially like they do the Mustang

Instead we get the Ford Ranger Raptor with the unmighty 2.0 diesel not even the 3.2 in the wild tract

Certain elements of the military use an updated version.

They have, and they do.

F150 and Mustang also used to be available with an aftermarket RHD conversion around 2005-2007.

Personally I'd prefer a factory built LHD than a converted RHD.

The body style (of the front fascia, front wings, and bonnet) instantly reveals this as an older model. Without looking up the numbers, we can see that it's an old version. Something from more than a few years ago.

If the truck continues to perform well, then why not.

An F450 is fairly common in the States, but I don't recall seeing one in the UK. I was unaware that Ford, Jankel, and/or other specialists provide a RHD version / conversion.

On a side note:

I did appreciate that those two officers, and many more like them, go out and perform their jobs during the holidays while countless millions pass to and fro, enjoying good times with family and friends. Thanks to those officers and to other first responders who remain on duty.

And I knew while typing my words that somebody would be likely to reference them as very much from one side of the Atlantic -- and not the other.

And there we are smile

On an unrelated note, happy 6 years on PH, and of course Happy Christmas! beer

I suppose that if I hadn't, someone else would have!

Anyway, cool spot. I haven't seen an F450 with right hand drive

Your eye for detail is rather flattering.

A Merry Christmas to you. And to all here.

PH is loads of fun. Also, at least in my case, there's an opportunity to learn a little something from time to time.

Me too. I had a cheeky second look, just to make sure. Didn't want to linger too close to the thing, obviously. But... curiosity and all that!

Quite a few of those big USA trucks in RHD in Australia. Here is just the Fords for sale: https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/results?q=(Servic...

There are plenty more Ram, Tundra, Chevrolet-whatevers.... In fact, Walkinshaw (aka HSV) is there converting Rams to right hand drive twenty four hours per day:

I don't get it, why do you need an armoured truck to record your favourite TV shows?
