After a family spanning argument, finally managed to get the wife to agree that Die Hard IS a Christmas movie.

So what are Christmas movies are what isnt

Die Hard is
Home alone isnt (because its ste !)
Any Christmas Carol film (muppets are the best)
Elf (obviously)
Its a wonderful life (wife makes me watch it every year)

Die Hard is definitely not a Christmas movie....it's a movie that happens to be set at Christmas time.

At the risk of stretching the term, think pretty much any Romcom could be a Christmas film. We watched ‘Yesterday’, and despite it lacking Christmas scenes, it fitted the day well.

I’d be open to a narrower definition though that defines a Christmas film as any film featuring Christmas scenes.

If it's set at Christmas, it's a Christmas film. Yes there are probably exceptions that prove the rule, but I can't think of any
