Worth a visit?

Few of us looking for a destination to ride to tomorrow , of the options, looks like the South will enjoy better weather....

I go maybe once or twice a year, it’s only an hour for me. Usually some nice bikes to have a look at, also some knobbers around there. Food is average and expensive.
Roads around there are fairly good but it’s a proper NIMBY area and heavily policed.

Worth a look if it’s not hours and hours away I guess!

Best thing there last time I went was actually a Caterham!

a272 to Petersfield is good.

Mind for police as suggested. Last time I was at Loomies was 3 years ago. Average food.

Northants?

Wow. Wouldn't even think of travelling from that far. Hugely overrated place. I didn't even go too often and I live probably 40 or mins away. It's just a cafe where on a nice day you get a few bikes. Food isn't anything to write home about and it's a speeding hot spot. If you insist on coming down. Enjoy the a272. But watch your speed. Etc

Make sure you're wearing the latest Rukka gear to fit in, if you smell of wee, even better.

Haha. It’s ok. Good spot for a bite if you don’t live far away. For me it’s mid way between the two places I lived, close to my chosen bmw dealer and the bike cleaner uses it as his cleaning venue.
I hope it stays in business but yes, beards, hi-vis and sensible textiles or replica leathers are order of the day. Not much of a destination I would say, from that distance. That said, you could easily tie in Loomies, Newlands Corner and Rykers at Boxhill to one trip, if you were really keen. That *might* make it worthwhile.

Idle Torque in Cotesbach (Lutterworth) is worth a visit. Great food from the cafe next door, too. Not that far from Northampton...

Great advice above. It’s an okay place for an annual visit, but on Sunday’s and Wednesday evenings I always head away from Loomies. Plod is glued to the area thanks to over zealous literate neighbours and a few two wheeled morons. I’m 20 minutes away BTW. Hayling Island bike night relaunched on Thursday. It’s a bit further for you, but on a balmy evening there’s not many places better to safely chew the cud with 200-300 likeminded souls.

We made our annual, possibly, only visit....as advised, food (and drink) was expensive for what it was but we hungry by then so didnt care.

While ive seen police at bike meets often enough, ive never seen them checking visors on someones premises, guess they must have had permission to be on site?

These two had a kit with them and I can only guess where testing dark visors and issuing advice/warnings? MT10 man was amused but no mention of his front light lit appearing to be a rear light...

Now part of the crowd and smelling of piss , we decided to head to Box Hill via the A272, which as said is a lovely road , wasnt much traffic about, had some sport with a Noble for a section .

A mile or two down the road from Box Hill we was warned of the police , sure enough a speed trap with a group of bikers was around the corner.

3pm ish was made Box Hill , was quietening down then I think, havent been here since the early 90s I guess but some nice kit in the car park and still plenty of folk about, scoffed down my Magnum and home via the M25 for a bit, then A41 Watford, picked up the Hemel to Leighton Buzzard road and home via the A5

260ish miles all told and a great day out.

The run from hemel to Leighton Buzzard is quite a nice little stretch of road, I use it all the time for my commute but had my first trip on it on the bike last weekend.

Glad the day delivered for you... you did everything right. I’ve never seen plod on-site at Loomies. It really is getting ridiculous now.
