Hello

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum or website but i dont know where else to ask this question. Does anyone have experience with copart as for some reason they have charged me £100 fee for account registration and suspended my account and adviced that my telephone number is linked to a previous account who owes them money. When i asked for proof to show where my number is linked too they said "sorry it is against gdpr law therefore we cant hand information out" which makes no sense as its not breaching any law if your handing me information about me? Seems like they just take my money and now wont refund me.. paid £100 for nothing? Didnt know it was this hard to make an account??

Sorry ones again if i havent posted in the right page. I hope someone can help me.

Thanks.

Looking at the trustpilot reviews of that website, you should consider yourself lucky it's only £100 you lost.

I would suggest contacting customer service and pointing out that
- telephone numbers are not identity numbers, they are frequently re-issued
- people who make a habit of not paying their bills are particularly likely to have their phone account cancelled, and thus that phone number being re-issued
- that you have had no prior dealings with Copart and don't owe them anything
- that while they are free to decline to do business with you, if doing so they are not fulfilling the implied contract when you paid them the £100 deposit, so they need to refund you that money
- that you will proceed to Small Claims if they do not return the money within 30 days

I’ve not had that specific problem with them but yes their accounts office and systems are shoddy at best so I’ve had to ring up and get things sorted.
Takes ages to get through to someone but once you’re through they can generally fix stuff there and then. I’d recommend you ask for a refund of the £100 and then create a new account with new details and pay the fee for that.
