I was joining the A2 after being stuck in traffic for a bit and was relieved to just put my foot down. Unfortunately I put it down too hard and think I got a ticket. I'm not sure but I'm hoping not because I got my license 15 months ago.

There was dashed lines on the floor and I slammed on the brakes but was doing about 65 past it on a 50 zone. But I can't see any speed camera, I can see a Siemens average speed camera instead. So is the dashed lines to scare drivers? I can't remember a flash. Should I just want it out for a NIP, and hope it doesn't come?

I was travelling in the same lane as the silver e class convertible.

I feel like a Muppet, I'm stressing quite a bit over this. I really can't afford to destroy my license, I need it for work

It all depends and yes you'll have to wait it out.

The SAC limit for a 50 limit is up to 64, so if you were less than 65 and not done that course in the last 3 years, you could get one of those if you were actually going slower than you thought.

The max you'll get otherwise is 3 points. So unless you have 3 already, you won't get your licence revoked.

I think it’s 3 points on PH for an incorrect spelling of licence .

PH is recently populated by brake members using fake accounts. Ignoring their usual left wing propaganda I’d suggest not stressing until you actually receive a NIP. Then if so, hire Freeman; or

I live not too far from there. I'm assuming you joined the A2 going towards the Blackwall tunnel from the A205 Eltham.

If so don't worry as that speed camera was removed a while ago. That whole stretch is average speed upto the Blackwall tunnel.

As long as you slowed down coming upto the right hand bend where the traffic lights are for the Kidbrooke interchange you'll be fine.
There's no average speed camera on the slip road towards the A2 (if I remember correctly it's before the flyover) and the next one is after the lights before Shooters Hill roundabout.

I just love the repetitive threads that state the OP put their foot down too much but needs their licence. Not getting done for speeding is really, really easy.
And just as easy is learning when and where you can get away with it... smile

Yes I was going to blackwall tunnel after joining from the a205 westthorn avenue. As soon as I saw the dashed lines I slowed down and continued at 50 all the way to the 30 zone before the tunnel.

Yep I'm just going to have to be sensible and careful from now on. I think I got away but I'll find out if I did in the next few weeks.

There's this stretch of dual carriageway I know in Dartford where you can really get speed. Only way to get caught is if the police see, only saw them once but I was doing normal speed. I took my little yaris to 95mph over there eek

The lovely Roads agency love leaving redundant speeding lines across carriageways, trouble is, like you, some slam on the brakes, which isn't exactly a clever move, is it? I was under the impression all speed camera are painted yellow, but the Hadec type you'll find on motorways seem to have been missed:-

I know it was stupid of me to slam the brakes but luckily no one was behind me. I don't think there are hadec types of camera on that stretch of A2, just some redundant floor markings.

As far as I know, Hadec are reserved for motorways. Not sure about A class roads that are almost motorways though, keep your eyes open on those.

Most of my driving is A roads, I don't think I've even used a motorway this year! But thank you I will keep to the limit bang on for motorways. For my next car I'm definitely going to try and get cruise control, for now my cruise control is my right foot

Get one of these instead, the cameras won't stand a chance:-

I'll just get one of these instead, I can still deliver my parcels too!

But on a side note I've noticed something on the A13, people tailgating lorries through the average speed cameras, then flooring it after. Does that work, I heard some average camera capture the rear plate as well to get motorbikes?

It is possible to judge getting alongside a high lorry to shield yourself from an average speed camera, which I'm pretty sure grab rear number plates.
