New arrival and I’m well chuffed.

2015 Jaguar F Type R RWD in Stratus Grey Metallic.

Presently I’m living the V8 dream after owning the following in recent years.....

2014 Dodge Charger SRT8

2014 Merc C63 AMG 507

2010 Jaguar XF-R

....and to think I almost selected one of Elon’s creations!

I figured with fuel still cheap here in the UAE, I may as well keep the run going.

I’d always admired the F Type, it’s a beautiful design. Even more so in coupe form (to my eyes).

So the hunt was on and actually this was the first I viewed some months ago. Following a few other viewings, this still remained the best on the market.

1 British lady owner (actually worked for the main Jaguar dealership here)

FJSH

Warranty

42k miles

PPF

Carbon Pack

Anyway about the car...It’s epic!

Performance

Very strong as you can imagine. I think the C63 offers more of an emotional experience that you get with the engineering that’s gone into the drivetrain. The F Type has more usable performance though, and I knew this would be the case coming from the XF-R with the same engine.

Sound

I knew these cars sounded good but not to the level I’m experiencing. Coming from some very good sounding motors already, this blows them all away.....C63 included. I know I won’t tire of this, and the discolouration of the outer pipes (where the exhaust flaps are activated from) suggests the previous owner didn’t tire of it either.

Handling & Braking

Reassuring handling but I haven’t had chance to put it through it’s paces. I probably won’t be able to exploit it too much on Dubai’s open roads. The brakes are decent enough but not amazing and it’s sacrilege that they didn’t fit it (as standard) with some more impressive components. I know they offer a CC brake option, but this feels like a cost saving exercise.

Interior

An area that dates most cars the quickest and this is no exception. It’s harmless enough, but doesn’t delight either. Definite costs savings in many areas when compared with my 10yr old XFR. Roof lining is basic, switch gear cheap in places and the infotainment is bloody awful. The sound quality from the stereo is inexcusable. I read about this before buying but didn’t expect it to be as bad as it was. Granted the XFR had the B&W system paired with a dated infotainment but it’s light years ahead in terms of sound quality. Mine is the more basic Meridian system but I’m led to believe the better version of this isn’t much better.
Plus points of the interior are where it matters, the seats and the driving controls are a good match for the car. The interior is black with a red insert on the seats. It’s not the combo I’d pick if buying new but the red is just dull enough to not be too in your face (I’ll share some interior snaps shortly).

Exterior

Stunning design, very elegant, that ass!.....not much more to say really!

So that’s the car. No significant plans for it other than seeing if I can address the hideous stereo, but I know I have that exhaust sound to drowned it out.

Anyway some pics

Thanks. It’s a lovely looking thing.

I’m on the fence about the new model. I’m biased but I think the old one looks more individual but the new shape looks like many other jags.

It will be my next car (within the next 2 years anyway)
However I'll be looking at the V6, fuel isn't so cheap over here!
It certainly is a lot of car for the money. Prices are more affordable now. 20k-30k buys a nice one.
With most of the depreciation gone.
I can't afford a new one.
Its one of those cars you can still enjoy just by looking at it and knowing its yours.
You'll know what I mean.
Enjoy!

It's a beaut, especially in that colour. I can't say the new model stirs up anywhere near the reaction in me that this shape does, having seen a couple on the road.

Enjoy! Definitely remains for me one of the best looking Jags of all time.

That's lovely. I nearly bought one of these a couple of months ago as I've always loved them but I decided i wanted something totally different to my previous car (Mustang GT) and bought an Evora instead. Totally happy with my choice but I'll always hanker for one of these. Maybe next time...

Thanks.

Funnily, I looked at an Evora S and it was a very nice car but ultimately let down by the IPS box that a lot of them have in this region.

Thank you.

I do appreciate the sleek new look of the front end but do think its lacking character.

The V6 is very compelling and you still get the amazing looks, soundtrack and performance. I kind of think the rear looks better on the V6 with the twin center exhausts.

Few more snaps of the car.

As mentioned above, I don’t think this is an interior combo I’d pick if specifying the car from new but that’s a minor compromise when I look at the bigger picture.

Also, I needed to find a bike carrying solution for it, so when with the suction cup mounting system. Seems to work well but I must admit it was nerve racking using it the first time!

Spend a few hours yesterday giving the motor a solid clean, 2 stage polish and finished off with a wax. The results were fantastic and the paintwork really took on a completely new depth to it I hadn’t yet seen.

I went out to take some snaps and was presented with a mini stand storm, most of which appeared attracted to the newly waxed bodywork and then it was back to normal again. This car is extremely difficult to keep pristine!

Either way it was good fun and I know it’ll be easier in general to keep marginally cleaner.

In other news, I decided to ditch the space saver in favour of some foam repair. The spare is pointless on this car as I highly doubt I’d get the 20” rims in the car in the event of a puncture. It might squeeze on the front seat (if I don’t have a passenger), but even then it’d probably make a mess of the interior. I’ve probably gained 50% or more storage space front ditching it!
