Anyone used Wago connectors in a back box
Discussion
Long and short I need to fit 3x double sockets and plan on extending the downstairs ring to do this. In order to get the ring back to the existing circuit can I use wago connectors to connect my return feed back to the ring and store them in a back box wirh a plug socket on the front?
Obviously I will need a deep back box to fit it in but wondered if anyone else had done this and whether any electricians are on here and could guide if it fits with regs.

Ideally you will be extending your ring to include the 3 new double sockets. Can you not run new continuous lengths of twin & earth to the new outlets (2.5 or 4mm if you live in a mansion) without using the Wago connections?
If you plan to add a big spur to your ring with these extra connections, then the earth loop impedance may not meet the Regs. A low value is needed to ensure that, if you have a fault, the fuse/MCB actually operates before the house burns down. If the worst should happen then your insurers will may ask who inspected and tested your circuit additions.

Thanks for the replies unfortunately the new sockets will be going beyond the TV about 1.7m away from the current one so I can't take an existing leg that far.
I was going to take my new cable and fish it between the dot and dabs with a few service holes to help and then from my last socket bring it back and use the wago connectors like above to connect the new live, neutral and earth to the existing therefore continuing the ring along.

Have you derated them correctly?
Which part of 'in a backbox' makes you think they need derating? Pretty sure that isn't considered an MF install.I like the 773s better than the lever ones.

Although I wasn't that kid in school.
I agree about the 773s though!

If extending the ring is tricky, why not a fused spur to them? I am pretty sure it used to be permissible to run multiple sockets protected by a FCU.
Not a spark but maybe one of them can comment.
My issue with a fused spur is having to make room for another back box and switch which I don't really want on show Not a spark but maybe one of them can comment.

Just Wago it - it will be fine. Use the 41A versions if you want to be super sure:https://www.screwfix.com/p/wago-41a-2-way-lever-co...
Since it's in an acessible place & you're not using a Wago box the manufacturer's derating doesn't apply.
Just thought I'd show what I'm dealing with. I'm going to remove the spur as we won't need that plug socket once everything is done so in the back I have 2x 2.5mm cables so I think I can extend to the right and bring it back and use the wago to connect the new wire back onto the ring and the back box is big enough to house the socket, cables and wagos

If you want to give yourself more room to work with you can get 35mm or 47mm deep back boxes. Personally I don't like leaning on the socket to squash all the cables in.

So the usb socket at higher level is getting removed to leave the 2 original cables in the lower box then you are going to chase the wall out to the right and onto the other wall? What about the coax and phone line in the way? Or am I misunderstanding?Yabu said:

I think you have a very valid point to be fair I will probably put a new deeper back box in.https://www.screwfix.com/p/appleby-2-gang-galvanis...
