Dearly beloved PH,

The last time I bought a brand new car to order was in 1996. It was a VW Polo. Small lady doctor car in our village. Fast forward to 2021, I test drove a fellow locum doctor’s M135i. He said he pays £399 per month. The dealer added storm bay paint at no extra cost.

What kind of incentives do dealerships tend to offer? When I used the online configuration my options came to 4k! I know no dealer will give 4k of options at no cost. As I haven’t done this in a while.. are there common things dealers usually agree to? Or things I can negotiate?

Your input would be greatly welcome.

I’ve purchased a couple of new cars over the last few years, one cash and one PCP. I go through a laborious process choosing and then negotiating with dealers and find that brokers always achieve significantly better than I can…

A quick look at BroadSpeed and C2C Cars indicates £4K off is achievable for an M135i - there are more brokers that would be worth contacting, I only mention these two companies as they have their prices/discounts on their websites

Thank you. I got in touch with both. One dealership was quick to respond. Seeing what they can do.

I'd be checking eligibility for the BMW NHS offers which sounds like exactly what your colleague has:

This. Fantastic offers which do change. Also consider the 128ti as a cheaper option with a slightly more engaging drive. Also be prepared for a long wait and some of your £4k worth of options no longer being available due to the semiconductor shortage.

UK forces have the best deals but with current lead times expect delivery into next year. We got our JCW through them, the M135i I got my local dealer to get close to the same discount but had a car sooner.
