Shere Hill Climb
Discussion
Was supposed to drive up the hill yesterday, but the cars not ready, so I went for a visit instead and was well impressed with the variety of motors there. Everything from a MkII FIAT UNO Turbo to a plethora of 1930's Bentleys, a Koenigsegg and Le Man Winning D Type. Sorely underreported event that I am really looking forward to going to again next year and would urge . Didn't take any photos, Any one else go??
I took my Alfa Giulietta Sprint two years ago. Driving up the hill is fun safe in the knowledge that nobody is coming the other way. I would agree that it is an excellent event with a very diverse selection of cars, from the seriously weird to the seriously historic. It's always heavily over subscribed if yo want to drive. Raises a lot of money for charity too. So yes, definitely worth attending! This year we went to the Hampton Court Concours - which is very different but also worthwhile.

I was there yesterday and have got to say was very impressed with both the organisation and the mix of cars. As my friend summed it up, "This is like the Festival Of Speed if you were allowed to take your own car up the hill,"
That impression was heightened by one of the Mclarens being driven by Kenny Brack!
Good selection of cars, just enough food stalls that you didn't have to queue (although the pricing structure was clearly Goodwood inspired!) & generally a very mellow atmosphere. I did take a few pictures and will try and post them this evening. They probably got a bit lucky with the weather but I will definitely be going back next year.

I too thought it a great event - huge diversity of vehicles and nicest weather for a long time. Some driven hard up the hill, others sedately. Surprised to see a brace of X1/9s and an Imp. The burnt-out looking 2CV is a popular regular. Not to mention the 27 lt Merlin-engined special (which failed to sell in the Sothebys auction that day).

The Lotus Capri was mentioned in a thread recently - probably not original, but looks cool.
Yes, proper Lotus lump, wider wheels etc. Looked very well engineered. Owner thought there's c. 200 original Capris surviving. I always found them more elegant than the later, common-as-sin, 'thugish' Capris. I imagine few youngsters would now recognise them as a Ford!A few more pictures and videos on the twitter feed: https://twitter.com/sherehillclimb
We have done it for a couple of years, brilliant event and a cracking mix of cars in a chilled environment. Can be a tyre killer though...
