I flew in a 737 Max
Discussion
I didn't realise Ryanair was running the 737 Max and was a bit shocked when I got on the plane and realised what it was - i'm not afraid of flying and have watched plenty of videos on it, and I know these have been fully tested and probably as safe as any plane should be. A small part of me was just waiting for the MCAS system to visibly kick in
I asked the air stewardess if this was the max and she answered yes in a sympathetic way as if she'd been asked that before many times before by worried passengers.
A really smooth plane, and the interior was very nice even if it was Ryanair. I got the feeling seat space was a bit bigger but could have just been imagining that.
Have you flown the max?

I was expecting bare bones cattle class service, so I was prepared for Ryanair. I just didn't realise i'd be flying in a max so soon!
Honestly though, would any of you have any reservations about MCAS? It's a smooth plane, i'll give it that
Flew in one a couple of weeks back, also with Ryanair. Didn’t realise until the safety announcement and they pointed to an additional set of doors (4 sets I think) that made me check the safety card glued to the seat in front and was marked up as a 737-8200. No mention of ‘max’ anywhere.
Didn’t bother me in the slightest (more curious than anything) but it was a comfy flight (well, as comfy as a Ryanair flight can be!). Quiet and didn’t crash so a thumbs up from me!

Ryanair were flying them pretty much as soon as they ban was lifted, I think they were the first European airline to fly them again (after they painted over all the 737 Max logo's from the noses of the aircraft of course

The give-away is the fluted rear of the engine Didn’t bother me in the slightest (more curious than anything) but it was a comfy flight (well, as comfy as a Ryanair flight can be!). Quiet and didn’t crash so a thumbs up from me!
The other give-away is it being in bits and on fire

I have a simplistic view that if anything happens to another max it’s finished. Boeing therefore can’t afford that, and the revised systems will be well engineered.
I'm sure it's a perfectly ordinary experience unless it happens to crash. Whilst I agree with your view that Boeing should have sorted it, perhaps it's worth a sweepstake on when the next one will go down, with a percentage of the proceeds going to the family of any unfortunate PHer on the flight.Gassing Station | Boats, Planes & Trains | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
