getting ready for the LMES race next weekend and was wondering if anyone could share their favourite spots for taking pictures without a press pass?

it should be good with the cars racing into darkness, last years race was v good but being a GP circuit means towering fences.

many thanks

These were taken on the outside luffield/woodcote.

These shots taken from the infield just past maggots/becketts (international circuit).

Hopefully will try and find a few more decent places to snap away from.

Cheers

Chris

there's a spot on the infield almost exactly opposite where Woddy took that first shot from that's good. Just where the bridge comes down so you're facing the apex of the first left into the complex.
Depending on what circuit it's using, abbey can be good for the return of the international circuit.

This may depend on what kit you have but the most fence free sections I found for the Classic last weekend was the infield between Bridge and Priory, particuarly the small grandstand there. However it looks like that will be the entertainment area for the 1000kms so may not be readily available.

The concrete terraces at Luffield wer OK and the Woodcote area Grandstands if you have a long enough lens.

Otherwise the best location I found was in the Grandstand at Vale BUT the classic track used the fairly open section rather than the tighter S bend which brought the action closer to the lens. It may not be so good when the GP circuit config is in use. It's also a bit of a trek - but I guess that may be a benefit for an enduro race!

There are a coupld of other places you can get tail shots though small gaps in the fences but they are probably a bit marginal for anything exciting.

Last year you could get up the banking of the bridge on the Hangar Straight and could see clearly over the fences. Don't know if they'll have done anything about it this year, but there was no officialdom around at the time to complain.

Shots weren't great, but that was down to the idiot pressing the shutter...

Club corner. Nice high banking all the way around and you can get a really good head-on view if you stand just past the corner.

Also, the approach to the Abbey chicane can be viewed over the dreaded fences from the top of the concrete grandstands there. Be quite good for a side-on panning shot. May get glowing brakes too if it gets dark enough.

Otherwise, not much else really. Went to Oulton Park on Saturday. Now there's a good fence-free, photographer-friendly track...
