Novitec unveils stunningly modified MC20 Cielo

Every drop top MC20 looks good - then there's the Novitec take on it...


For those who want to do suntrap supercar a little bit differently, there’s plenty to recommend the Maserati MC20 Cielo. It looks superb, it drives like a Lotus and it’s powered by a really characterful - as well as extremely powerful - turbo V6. And you can get an MC12-style colour scheme. But as is so often the case with forced induction modern supercars, there’s scope to make the Maserati even more powerful still. So that’s exactly what Novitec has done. 

711hp at 7,400rpm are the important numbers, up from 630hp as standard and achieved through nothing more than everyone’s favourite dynamic duo of ECU and exhaust. Torque is rated at 603lb ft, so performance is startling: 0-62mph in 2.8 seconds, 124mph in 8.4 and a top speed of more than 201mph. The eight-speed dual-clutch auto continues unchanged. 

The standard Cielo is a smart-looking supercar without being too attention-grabbing - Novitec has decided to ramp up the attitude somewhat. Forged Vossen NF11 21-inch wheels and 25mm lowering springs beef up the stance (colours other than gold are available for the rims), while carbon aero parts bring some drama to the shape. So there’s a redesigned front spoiler that reduces front axle lift, new air intakes and a very smart ducktail. The rear end now benefits from four 100mm carbon/stainless-steel tips for the exhaust, which can be Inconel for the most committed. And for anyone really invested in making the craziest Cielo around, Novitec offers a ‘gigantic’ selection of colours for the leather and Alcantara inside. 

As is Novitec tradition, parts can be added to the Cielo individually or sent away for the whole shebang to be done. Looking at this one, it’s easy to imagine many being tempted for a bit of optimisation. This grey example has basically delivery mileage and more than £35k off list price - that can go towards some forged wheels and Inconel exhaust…

Have no issues with these mods but the standard car is just fine for me. Or would be, if I were rich.

Oof. Not normally a fan of primer grey paint but the gold accent sets it off beautifully.

I’ll take mine in Rosso Vincente but apart from that, yeah that’s lovely. Not the biggest fan of Novitec normally but that’s quite restrained and well judged. cloud9

Didn’t even know Maserati made a super car so a nice surprise.

It has that modern "open top" design fkwittery whereby the rollover hoops and rearward cowls don't sit centrally to the seats they sit behind.
Once pointed out, that's all I see.... like a BMW i3 or i8 pooping out a car from it's rear end... the whole design team blinded until it's too late...
So its a no from me, I'll gladly take a coupe though, thank you.

Have they managed to sort the exhaust note though? Last video i watched of theirs they were having trouble achieving something decent.. apart from the colours, i like lowered kitted appearance
