Your NissanConnect EV app to be discontinued from 30th March 2026
Dear Customer,
We are writing to inform you that the NissanConnect EV app currently linked to your vehicle [NUMBER] will cease operation from 30th March 2026.
This will affect Nissan LEAF vehicles produced until 2019 and eNV200 vehicles produced until 2022.
The discontinuation of the NissanConnect EV app is related to the legacy architecture of the current platform. The current platform cannot be upgraded to support future enhancements or align with our ongoing development plans.
As a result, you will not be able to use your NissanConnect Services remotely through the NissanConnect EV app as well as certain map-related features will no longer be accessible in affected vehicles from 30th March 2026.
We want to reassure you that the key features such as the Climate Control Timer and Charging Timer are accessible directly from your car’s Navigation Infotainment System. For further guidance on how to use on-board features, refer to the Nissan Drivers Guide app and your Owner Manual.
Nissan remains committed to delivering the next generation of connectivity solutions to anticipate and meet the evolving needs of both current and future customers.
Thank you for being a Nissan owner and for your support.
Best regards,
Nissan

Er, my car is a 2023 Leaf, so in the first sentence it's saying it'll be switched off, and in the second it's saying it won't be. Which is it? Idiots.

Nissan are shutting down their NissanConnect app with one month's notice. This hoses certain remotely accessible services such as pre heating and checking battery level.
It also affects vehicles that can be less than five years old.
With more and more crud requiring always onlineness, I wonder how many cars will end up vastly outliving some of their trinkets and where the line is between missing the nice-to-haves and being needlessly bricked.

Eventually all products with cloud connectivity will lose their connection and will either give up some comfort features or cease to operate in part or entirely.
The only chance to get around this is for consumers to insist on open protocols and interfaces.
Until then almost all cars, bikes, vacuum robots and door cameras will cease to operate after a few product cycles.

Yes pretty daft that legislation isn’t brought in to insist on open source protocols so that other apps can at least operate a set standard raft of actions. So allow manufacturers own app to have an ‘advantage’ over the open source alternatives. Eg the Nissan app could have more granular control over start and end times of certain actions like warm up, or be geolinked etc whereas the public app can only go in 5 minute increments or whatever. Or have it time barred so within first 5 years it’s manufacturer only, and after that the code must be released etc.

It's not about open source protocols or lack of support, it's because in the UK we are turning off 3g signal and therefore thr cars hardware can no longer communicate
That's what I mean by open interfaces - just change the rf module to your preferred standard and not be limited by closed systems and their foresight until a product lifecycle ends - for the manufacturer.Gassing Station | EV and Alternative Fuels | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
