I've noticed that i've got a heated front screen.
I only noticed it when i watched my cream video, the camera kept focusing on the wires.

Should there be a seperate button, or does it operate when the rear is turned on?

Either way, I dont think it, or the rear are working. :(

How popular are heated front screens? I was at the mid essex meet last week, myself and Bud checked most of the cars there, out of curiosity and didn't see any:confused:

I know this isn't relevant, but I'm fairly sure our Tuscan doesn't have one.

If you look closely, you can see the wires running top to bottom, if you've got one.
I checked all models at mid essex and none had it.

I noticed that on your video too,
Mine definatly does not have one. Rear yes front no.
I was wondering if you have had a replacement screen at some point. Maybe there is another screen that fits the cerb?

Well my Granada had a heated front screen, it was wired into the heated mirrors, so if you have them, maybe thats what its connected to?

Like mirrors, the front screen gets hot quickly, and switches off in a short period of time, unlike the rear screen. Its dead handy when you get out to find frost and snow on the screen.

There have been a couple of comments on here recently with people saying they have heated front screens.

What heated mirrors, on a TVR! c'mon a heated front screen is pushing the boundries of technology.
My wifes focus also has heated front screen and mirrors, they work together off of a seperate switch to the rear.

They all have electric & heated mirrors (whether they work is another matter !)

The heated front screen was a factory fit option, but most people were put off as it's rumored that they stop speed camera detectors working.....

Correct, I have often wondered why (unless things have changed) TVR hasnt fitting seat belt tensioners, air bags, or ABS, or is this standard now, I just recall reading this a couple of years ago

The lame excuse from the head honcho then was something on the lines of "Its a drivers car", maybe but it still bloody hurts when your boat race comes into contact with the steering wheel.

Please tell me that has all changed now?

I have the heated screen option... hurra. Point to note Ford had the patent on the heated screen technology which was seen on the XR3 etc. I guess Jaguar and Aston have it now. There has to be a link between Ford and the TVR heated screen?

I have heated front screen on mine, and it comes on with the rear screen. One button, two screens heated.

I had one on the BMW Mini Cooper. It was on a totally seperate curcuit to the rear window. It didn't seem to effect the GPS receiver either but you will find that the filamants don't stretch all the way around the window. You should have 4 inches or so on the edges where its just plain window.

This was discussed on Pistonheads 4 years ago!

Ford used to have the patent for the heated screen. The patent expired and now others can offer heated screens hence the person with their BMW MINI.

I cannot see why anyone would want one on a TVR. If the weather is so icy that you need a heated front screen, then you don't really want to be driving a TVR!

I heard about this after we got our Focus with heated front screen. The way round this, apparently, is to get a detector where the sensors are in the grill.
I wouldn't have thought it would effect gps style detectors!?

I thought I'd heard that before, but not sure if I did or not, so must have done. If that makes any sense.

Thank You.
Do they turn themselves off after a while, like the ford heated front screens do?

After eating fish and chips on the moors with a beautiful young lady (my wife) the screen does mist up. So the heated screen is great!... LOL

Says somewhere in the blurb for the Road Angel 2 that some cars with heated front screens (Merc, BMW etc) may cause a poor signal and they recomend fitting an external aerial for the gps, IIRC, which is an extra, of course
