Chimaera Brakes.
Discussion
Having done this little job a few times I think the best anwser if you are doing the job yourself, is take the existing discs and pads off and trott off to your local Auto Factors and tell them you want some of these while pointing to warn out bits
There seems to be alot of variance in exact brake parts used over time and it can become a bit annoying to keep popping back to the Factors to change the pads and then to change the discs
They will be Ford, but as to which model, it depends whether it's a Tuesday car or a Thursday car and whether Barry built it or George

Is there a thread regarding the disc and disc pads for a 1994 4L Chimaera? I think they are off the ford sierra, but does any one know for sure.
Thanks in advance.
My V8S original brakes were Sierra 2.0 estate front and P5 rear, and all the 4.0 litre cars I've seen looked identical. But I understand they *do* vary so you can never tell until you check.
On my car the disks were original off a 5 stud car (granada cosworth I think) but were re-drilled to fit 4 stud by TVR!!!, Just try and get that from your local motor factors!!!!, Escort cossie disks looked identical but the offset was out by about 1 mm!!!, Full disk and caliper conversion coming up me thinks!!!!, Its a good excuse anyway!!!

Not quite - the casting is the same for both Sierra and Granada variants - so both 4 stud and 5 stud part numbers are written on it. Ford thenadd the holes by machining. One part number has "5 stud" written next to it to denote the Granada part number.

My 95' 4L Chimaera had Ford Escort MKIII front vented 240mm discs and the rear had Ford Granada solid Discs, Cheap to buy £28 for rear std pair and £23 For front std pair, the parts where listed in my local motor factors handbook.
This was the front disc code for mine :-

I've looked into what discs are available for the chimaera 4.0,4.3,4.5 and 5.0 models and there are only 4 types available for all the models 2 for the front and 2 for the back and they are all from ford cars,
This Information is from the EBC Disc and Pad Handbook

thanks Qube, I thought some one must have sorted this out with all the chimaera's that have been sold.
The trouble is that TVR never bothered to read this information on what they should have fitted.
BTW EBC have removed all this information from their current catalogues and now state (please contact) and will only supply parts based on sight of the originals because TVR changed these parts so often it is not true. They got fed up with the high level of returns that they experienced.
The callipers, front struts and discs seem to have been supplied as a set and sorced from a variety of Fords and these have slight variations in terms of offset. The gap between the disc and calliper is about 1 mm and so any change or difference is critical. Many so called replacements may vary as well so the long and the short of it is measure and check.
I have seen on several occassions where brake parts will fit one car but not another. So please check and double check.

Sorry G don't mean to hijak your thread.

I doubt it as I suspect that they will only have the 5 holes to start with. I can't stress this enough. Measure and measure again.
Most of the Grananda discs I have seen have the 5 hole fitting only.

gets more confusing by the minute.
MAC
Unfortunately , all this means is that your current disks were drilled for both 4 and 5 stud fixings ( one hole is common ), the replacememnts may only come with 5 stud fixing holes.
