Hi, i'm having problems with my dealer, (adhering to the no name-and-shame rules i will not name them here) and a reasoned e mail to the dealer principal has been ignored.

Are these guys franchisees, or owned by the Stratstone Group? If the latter does anyone have any contact names at the group head office i might try.

Feel free to PM me if you don't want to post in public.

Many thanks for your help.

When I had a problem I sent a letter to the dealer principle and copied the MD of Landrover. Moved bloody sharpish then.

Thanks for that Liszt.
The dealer principal has already ignored me. I'm trying to establish the names of the relevant people at the Stratstone Group HQ to see if they are interested. Adding Land Rover could be a good idea too.

Many thanks for your help

Please PM me the name of the Stratstone dealer you want to name. I've had PROBLEMS with one of them in Bucks.

Priceless:
google "stratstones" - 1ST hit " I would rather walk than deal with them again"
People spend alot of time and effort trying to be #1 in google - the fact that its a customer complaint to is very telling.

My recent experience with Stratstone of Edinburgh is mixed, to say the least. I bought a used TD6 Vogue (2002) from them last year. I was told that it icluded a full Land Rover Warranty, which included an M.O.T. warranty. Oh good, thought I, at least I won't have any bills this year.
There were some warranty issues during the year, which were fixed quickly and efficiently by Stratstone. There were one or two minor issues over the electrics, but you buy a car like this with your eyes wide open.
I bought the car on the 4th May 2007, and the M.O.T was dated from the 9th May 2007, so Ibooked the car in for it's annual service and M.O.T. on the 3rd May. Unfortunately, due to a death in the family, I couldn't get the car to Startstone until the 6th May, and then I went back to work offshore. I was emailed to be told that the car had failed it's M.O.T. (Air suspension unit), and that I would have to pay as it was out of warranty. B*llocks, I said, the M.O.T is good until the 9th May. No, not the case. It would seem that my warranties were dated from the 19th April, two weeks before I actually took posession of the car.
After a protracted discussion with the service manager, and an invitation by me for him to have a frank exchange of views with the sales department, he agreed to waive the costs that would otherwise have been covered by the M.O.T warranty and Land Rover warranty, some £1500.
So, while the sales department may have inadvertently (incompetent) or deliberately (devious)misdirected me on the date that my warranty expired, I must say that the service department came through for me, and for that I am grateful. Perhaps the service manager was trying to save the company further grief, and to be fair to him, he suggested that I look more closely at my paperwork in future.

Just had the cylinder head go on my 04 TD5 Discovery with 55,000 miles. It has always been fully serviced by Lookers Colchester (where I bought it from). The cost to replace the head is £2,800 - Lookers have asked LR for a 25% contribution. To add insult to injury, Lookers also want £299 for diagnosing the problem! Meanwhile I have been without a car for four weeks as they don't have a loan car for me to use.

I think this stinks and want to write to someone high up in LR - anyone out there have any names?

Only a minor quibble but Strat*tone Heathrow none the less.. ordered a touch up paint stick which apparently took some four weeks to arrive. During the order the parts manager looked out the window and said, "That it there?" pointing to my metallic red Range Rover (which was the only one there!) I confirmed his question and he already had my logbook for a new key fob that I had ordered at the same time.

Some four weeks past and said dealer called to confirm the paint stick was in. having driven 10 miles there and back to pick it up when I got home I noticed and opened the bag.. it was metallic blue rolleyes

I rang the dealer and was told that I must have ordered it incorrectly irked

I think Everyone has a Stratstones experience to tell. I will never deal with them and prefer to take my landy all the way over to Carlisle to a very thorough and well respected dealer rather than use Stratsones in Newcastle??

I would never use them again, a few years I purchased a used P38 from them the first one when back after 3 weeks due to the £3k of fixes it needed inc new drivers seat, sus and break work (due to lose parts!).

Its replacement purchased as a 4.6 Vogue turned out to be a tarted up 4.0 HSE, which I had to tell them and get LR to email the build details foe them to agree. So much for their 100 point check (inc HPI check)

NEVER AGAIN..

In the Essex area i would recommend lookers at bishop stortford, and get life time care from them, that gives discount on all work.ststones are 5 mins from me while Lookers are half an hour. says all.

Well I tried to buy a one owner RRS TDV8 34k full LR service history with new disks, pads, tyres serviced by another stratstone dealer in mint condition

After putting a deposit down what turned up was :

A 2 owner 38k non LR service history( that invalidated the warranty as LR parts were not used) with shot disks/pads, shot tyres which pulled to the left so badly you had to hold the wheel at about 3 oclock to get it to go straight with a missing engine cover and chipped to h*ll.

Oh and the price promise is a joke too …….

Needless to say I didn’t accept it !!!
