Just wanted to share my experience !

Flying off the M25 onto the M1 last night, doing about 70 and speeding up when my right foot went flat to the floor and I started slowing down. The sight of the articulated lorry looming large in mty mirror as I fumbled for the hazards and tried to pull onto the hard shoulder to discover that it was lined with cones that were roped together, filled me with a certain sort of horror !

The upshot was that I was recovered off the motorway to a garage forecourt in Hemel where a very nice man from the AA spent the best part of 2 hours on his knees with his head under my steering wheel attaching a temporary nipple to the frayed end of the cable and then sorting out the idle speed because the cable was shorter.

The bit that is probably relevant to the rest of you is that I could have got myself off the motorway (which I didn't realise/think about) because, as the nice man explained, there is enough touque, even at 750 revs to pull away in first and change gear. This would have saved the hour or so I spent waiting for the recovery vehicle to take me less than a mile. I might have got home earlier than 1 in the morning if I had known/thought of this !

I can see how that would work in some circumstances but mine had snapped where the nipple was attached and there was only effectively one end.

Lessons for us all ! For once nothing to do with TVR design or workmanship, just one of those things.

Get it fixed ASAP..teacher

This happened with My Tiger kit car, AA man did TEMPORARY nipple repair, lasted three days then came adrift again due to the strain, before I could order/fit a new cable.......

Just like to say a big thumbup to all AA/RAC men....They do a great job...

When you order the cable, make sure it's the modified one, or it will snap again.

Happened to me.
Bend the tab that holds the cable at the pedal end up by about 3mm to stop the cable from braking again. You can see in the photo the angle is too harsh.
The later cable also helps with a nylon sleeve.

I presume that this tighter radius as it goes into the lug could explain the initial stiffness in the throttle pedal that makes small blips or light throttle town driving a bit hit or miss?

I am booked into Power on Friday to get it replaced. £80 for the cable plus about 2 hours labour at £55 per hour !

Having said that, there's no way I would want the poxy job having watched the AA man grovelling around on the floor eek

yes Now silky smooth on mine (the modification stops the cable binding at first throttle opening)

You sure those prices are right, just looking at my invoice form Silverstone Performance, they charged me about £125 plus VAT

Easy way is carry a spare cable (Cost £55) and let the RAC fit it. Also carry an Oil Sender just in case.

Won't know exactly what the cost will be until it's done but if the labour is an hour and a half and VAT is already included then they would be about the same. Ever the optimist, beside's I don't have time to shop around, I am definately happy with the devil I am very well aquainted with, and they put themselves out to fit me in when I could get there.

Yep, happened to me twice now. Always carry a spare and the friendly AA man is happy to spend an hour fitting the replacement instead of making a temporary repair.

Cost £113 inc. VAT. Only charged me for an hours labour although it was probably closer to an hour & a half.

Excellent service all round - Big Respect to all at TVR Power etc.

What is the type/spec for the cable? Mine snapped on start up this morning - happy to do the work but need to get replacement - assume it is off the shelf, and the same for Sagaris/Tuscan??
