Has anyone got any spare perforated leather from previous job, I am wanting to replace one side looking a bit shabby and cost of suppliers is quite alot (£180 half hide) when I only want 36' by 14', would prefer black but any colour would do, willing to pay and for postage

Cheers

Have you actually managed to get the padded part off the center console?

If so, how?

I'd planned to have mine re-trimmed but failed to get it off.

I may have some perforated cream left when I have finished the grand retrim - but I am still waiting for the rest of it to be delivered so it may be a while yet before I know!

The padded part on the drivers side is held on with wing nuts and velcro - the smaller piece on the passenger side is riveted. The only way to get either of them off is to remove the entire console from the car. It is a bit of a performance - but not too bad.

There are 2 bolts on each side of the dashboard by the doors, accessible from underneath, and one screw under the bottom edge of the padded part on the drivers side at the front. The back is held in by the helmet holder so take that out too.Remove the cover from the instrument cluster (wing nut underneath at each side) and unscrew the dashboard. You have to ease the dashboard down through the hole in the console as you take it out. It is a tight fit - but it will come out of the passenger door if you take the seat out.

I don't think you would get to the wing nuts to get the padded part off without damaging the console without taking it out and certainly wouldn't be able to drill out the rivets with it in situ.

I'll have another go at it again.

No point letting the spare leather go to waste.

Who knows, perhaps I'll go the whole-hog and re-trim the whole thing.

I have to admit that the Recaro's on the stand at the PH show were very comfortable ..... ideal for finding an excuse to go for a hoon (or ten).
