Hello,

Has anybody ever ordered anything from Ikea online and therefore know whether one can specify weekend delivery or not?

Their website seems to have completely omitted this critical information for some reason.

Ikea said:
6. Delivery dates
Within 24 hrs an estimated delivery date will be sent in your Order Acknowledgement email

Within 72 hrs a confirmed delivery date will then be sent in your Delivery Advice email, which also specifies courier or 2 man truck delivery

Check the Delivery Advice email carefully. You can check the progress of your delivery www.ikeaordertracking.co.uk If you need it, an alternative delivery slot must be requested as soon as possible, and no later than 48 hours before the confirmed delivery date. You can do this in several ways. Click on Contact us

If your delivery is being made by 2 man truck, our delivery team will attempt to contact you by telephone or SMS, 24-48hrs before delivery, to specify morning or afternoon. If you want to change your delivery slot at this stage, there may be a charge, which you can either accept to pay, or opt to cancel your order. This is with the exception of made to order goods, which cannot be cancelled after we have sent your Delivery Advice email
Looks like you have to place an order to find out when they can deliver it.

They do deliver on a weekend - in fact the missus is getting some tat delivered this Sunday. However, you have to order it before you get a "planned" delivery date. If it makes any difference, she ordered online on Thursday 24th Jan and got a Sunday 3rd Feb delivery. Turns out it will be a DHL truck delivering.

In fact, here you go...

1. You can check the progress of your delivery(ies) at
http://www.IKEAordertracking.co.uk. To access this site you will
need: a) The email address to which we sent this email b) Your
Order Number & c) The full Post Code of your Billing Address as
shown in this email.
2. You can, if the planned delivery date is unsuitable, request a
change of date also at http://www.IKEAordertracking.co.uk.
3. We will contact you by phone or by SMS text message 1 - 2 days
before the delivery date to confirm a morning or afternoon delivery.
4. You will be asked by our delivery team to sign for the delivery.
Alternatively you can speak to an IKEA Shop Online! Advisor by
calling 0845 358 3363.

Thanks, that's good, helpful info there. I'll either do this or hire a van for £56 for the convenience since the delivery would cost me £35 anyway.

And a bit more boocks.....

If you were to order something that is "Made to Order" check the dimensions of it very carefully. For instance, if you were to order a sofa and it didn't, couldn't and would *never* fit through your ing door, the nice delivery men will take it back to the depot for you, and Ikea will refund your money less 30% of purchase price. So you'll be sofa-less and a couple of hundred quid down. Or at least you would be if you were my missus who "can't be arsed reading the smallprint". I give up, I really do.
