Regular poster on here and have just set up a new business trading in MX5's hence the new 'name' to seperate business from pleasure.

I've previously used my mate's HPi account to check cars history which I believe costs around £5.

Now I'm setting up my own accounts I just wondered if this is the best option ?

Thanks

Mark

Yep, open a tradeweb account, online HPI, £3.75 if you do them online, £5.75 if you do them by phone (eg whilst out and about), you can add on NMR, ID checks, all sorts of other bits, and publish your stock through HPI exchange if you want an online presence.

Cheers thats what he uses... just thought I'd check it was a decent deal.

I've been on the fringes of the trade for years and know MX5's inside out so thought I'd finally jump in.

Thanks

Good luck mate. Can't give any info on HPI but good luck anyway.

If you deal in parts as well as whole cars, any chance you could PM me some contact details as I'm after a couple of panels for my '5.

Matt.

I think the set up fee is about £175, make sure you get the package that compensates if they get it wrong. Costs about another 20p a check

RAC website are doing them for £5 each or 3 for £12 to the general public , no set up fees that way .

Cheers guys...

HPi still haven't called me back from yesterday, but if there are £175 set up fees I'll be going elsewhere.

Thanks

Matt PM seems to be on the blink.

Sorry, I don't do panels.

I do get lots of performance goodies but tend to sell them on the OC or MX5 Nutz forums.

Thanks for that, it's only panels this time but I'll bear you in mind for future performance goodies.

Yep, instant results and the ability to add detail to the search for up to 30 days after the initial request to improve upon the information received.

An update should anyone care...

Joining fee is 'usually' £65 but they cut it to £30.

You also have to add £75 credit to your account.

BUT there is a £72 a year 'subscription' fee which seems a bit steep.

And whilst the online checks appear much cheaper £3.75 the NMR check costs another £2.60 which I've never seen when checking online.

Whilst the NMR check is included if you phone up at £6.95.

So unless I'm missing something it seems the RAC is the better bet
(I notice on their site it says they own HPi)
