I need some avgas as local as possible. I have tried Biggin Hill and Redhill airport but they say they are only licenced to put it in planes.

I need about 40 litres in jerry cans.

Any ideas where I can get some?

I'm very close to J7 on the M25.

What do you want it for? Unlikely that any airfield operator will sell it to you, although you may get someone with a bowser (farm strip) who'd be willing so try the Private Flying forum on PPRUNe and ask the question there.

Can't you just use race gas?

Cheers,

Whats in the regulations about use of Av-gas I wonder?

scratchchin

hehe

Wont octane booster suffice? What about that 109RON BP stuff? You can get on the pumps at selected stations.

You got the SCed 4 stroke ski? I take it youve changed the compression ratio?

I thought Avgas was only about 100RON? That BP stuff is 102RON although its £2.xx per litre.

Maybe some Tesco 99 with octane booster?

Brands Hatch might do you some race juice?

Isn't the reason they can't put it into anything but planes because of the tax implications?

AFAIK, Governments cannot tax Avgas...

Will a Jetski like AVGAS with it's VERY high lead content..?
If it's octane rating you want, as others have said, you would be better off with race fuel or V-Power etc.
Also, AVGAS is colour dyed, so is visually different to commercial vehicle fuel.

AVGAS 100LL is Low Leadwink

As already mentioned, it's "only" 100 RON. BP and Tesco + octane booster are probably better options.

As for tax, AVGAS is taxed the same as normal petrol, it's JET A1 that's not taxed so highly (but you won't run a car on it)

Government certainly does tax avgas at a silly amount £1.52/litre last time I bought some so its not cheap, its avtur/jet a1 jet fuel that is tax exempt/low level taxed because the airlines wouldn't buy any here otherwise!

That's Low Lead when compared to the old 100/130 AVGAS which it effectively replaced, but not in comparison to vehicle petrol, where 100LL AVGAS still has about 4 x TEL content that old 4-star leaded petrol had....wink
