Plimsoll reports - any good?

Analysis of certain sectors, benchmarking report essentially. I'm in Printing, where they monitor the largest 1500 Uk firms.

I get mailed by these people every year, and now looking at this to identify businesses with a view to acquire.

Anyone else here use these reports? Are they any good?

I get a "report" through in the mail every month from this lot.

I am sceptical shall we say.

I can't say I think much of them, I would advise giving them a miss.

They are flawed, they use a formula to calculate company values, which can't possibly take into account everything, especially in some smaller owner managed business there are a number of add-backs that have to be adjusted for, e.g.they could potentially have a boat or something being charged through the company.

I had a copy at one point that showed the value of Sainsbury's at about double the actual market capitalisation.
