Anyone know what their policy is about trolley damage. I'm guessing its every man for himself but don't see why I should take the hit if they employ trolley attendants.

Thanks to the polish car washing scum that was stood 20 metres away laughing about it as well. (not saying all Polish are scum.. just this f**ker).

Tesco's and Gloucester (brockworth)... should have known better.

Point to note for everyone. Pirates Black paint is stunning until its got scratches all over it and then it looks terrible.

I would imagine parking is at owners' risk.

They put up signs saying parking is at the owners risk for pretty much this reason. Sorry.

Exactly why we pay the £3.50 to shop online and have it delivered to our house.

Simply that both Waitrose and Lewis's near me have car parks that are well away from trolley bays... I would have parked there.

It wasn't a snub for the sake of it. In my case it would have made a difference.

Today in Tesco, I parked at the very end of the car park with plenty of space around me. It made no difference as trolleys can still roll around freely.

You could always try a supermarket where you have to pay £1 to get a trolley.

Yup. its well worth while. plus they do evening deliveries. AND 15 minutes does it online, whereas its going to take an hour and a half of your life to drive there, walk round, pay, pack, drive home.

Online is the way to go, we've been doing it years. As someone above has posted, it takes 15 minutes and you're done. No wasting time at the supermarket dodging smelly people and worrying about your car etc. Ocado (Waitrose) is the only one I have experience with, they're brilliant.

makes sense for both damage limitation, blood pressure and environmental reasons

Sorry to hear about this. That idiot who was laughing should be made an example of. He is a representative of some company (Tesco, the washing sub contractor; someone) and his actions etc would "represent" the company he is working for if he is on duty.

The problem with any shop taking responsibility for trolleys is that they can't force people to place their trolleys in the bays (which have a lip to stop them rolling away, I noticed). And you can't stop other shoppers bumping the trolleys into your car when they are pushing it or loading their cars.

It might have done. The problem is lazy arsed shoppers who park far away and don't bother taking their trolley back because they think that is for trolley attendants to do. Unfortunately, in that time, damage can be done.

Indeed,

I clearly remember some blond woman leaving her trolley unattended. She emptied it got into her car and left the trolley there.

Little did she know the trolley was on an ever so slight down hill slope.

Luckily I was sat in my car watching this, q me getting out, sprinting as hard as I could as this trolley was picking up speed, and managed to stop it going full pelt into a fairly new Audi S8 !

sounds like a logical solution.

Are there still places that don't do this?

lol

I don't know of anywhere that does the £1 thing anymore. It seems that Tesco are happy to invest who knows how much on stopping the loss of their trolleys with the electromagnetic trolley stoppers at the perimeter of their property but not on the coordination or prevention of damage to customers' property.
