Does a limited Company have to add Limited onto its name?

The caveat I would add to that though is starting up with a similar or identical name as a closed company can cause problems by association and also availability of web addresses etc.
Thank you for your response.The above was a concern and as it happens the domain is taken for another 12 months!
Shame as I liked the name, but I suppose its not worth having to explain that it wasnt me that went into liquidation... Back to the drawing board....
