I bought my 2006 997 C4S in March from a OPC in London, with a 12 month Porsche warranty. When I collected the car the salesman told me that I was lucky as he had discovered that the car (that he had sold me) had a tracker fitted. He handed me some direct debit forms to fill out, then he handed over 2 tracker fobs.

Due to the stories about unapproved trackers potentially invalidating the P warranty, I recently telephoned the service department of the OPC to ask which tracker was fitted to my car. They said that they didn't know as they don't have any paperwork (nor was any given to me) but that "if it a small rectangular fob it's probably the porsche approved system."

So, is this the Porsche Approved system or is my warranty invalid????

This is the fob for the Porsche VTS. Its what is fitted by Porsche and is fine for warranty purposes. It should be listed as part of the spec on your vehicle i would have thought they should have sorted out the paperwork to transfer it over to you ?

Slightly o/t but what are these tracker fobs for? What's the button for?
Are they to identify when your car is moving without you in it ?!

to arm and disarm the fob.. when initialising them we had to make sure they were on..which meant pressing the button and a light flashing.

There's a tiny red LED that flashes to show you it's 'on'.

You can turn it off by pressing and holding the button for about ten seconds. You can turn it on with just a quick press.

If it's turned off or not with you when you start the car and move it, an alert will be sent to Cobra's tracking centre and you should receive a text message followed by a call.

Hi, just been scouring the site for porsche tracker related info, as I had a similar question to this thread.

I bought an 07 c4s from an independent porsche dealer, who has been v unhelpful in giving me info on the tracker.

I have a tracker fob as above, but the dealer has said he will get back to me with the number I should call in order to activate the tracker and transfer over the details from the previous owner to me so that if/when my car is stlen they phone me rather than the previous owner.

The dealer has to come back to me with said phone number, anyone know who I can phone/email info to get it all sorted out and so i can reactivate tehe tracker?

Thanks

I guess because he may end up paying the annual subscription fee of £295. Call CobraNavtrak, you may need new fobs as the batteries run down which they send FOC. They'll also do a functionality check and if there is a problem send an engineer which is also included in the annual fee.
