Being bank holiday "Monday", I used the bus lane at 14:00 as the rules were mon-fri 0800-1000 & 1600-1700, sat/sun 1000-1600. I was the only car to do so for what seemed like a really long stretch. It's not weekend rules for bank holiday is it? Can I face a penalty ?

You were entitled and correct to use it at that time irrespective of it being BHM.

Indeed, bank holidays have no effect on the rules as laid out.

Interesting, because I had the same question in a slightly different view. I came across a road that was no cars/bikes from Monday to Friday, and wondered if the bank holiday meant I could drive down there, but decided that it wouldn't, so chickened out and found another route. (Walsall town centre, if that makes any difference).

I had an accident when driving down a bus lane on a sunday- outside of the bus lane operating times. But it seems noone bothers to look at the signs so I was the only car using it, and people will flash you etc as they don't know any better! And of course the woman turning right across my lane didn't bother looking either... Crunch! Took 9 months to get the claim sorted out, as the 3rd party were adamant I was driving down a bus lane and thus was at fault. One quick photo of the signs (right by where the collision occurred) and I got a full settlement, which was nice.

Those sound like Civil Service working hours. Wonder why the bus lane ends before the work day is over ...
