The Garage TV series on discovery. Speculation or the Truth?
Discussion
Firstly I am a big fan of the tv show. I believe there has been 2 or 3 series of the show. If your a fan, you will probably be waiting for a new series to be shown as its been ages - 2-3 years since we last saw Jock, Sandy and co.
Like me, you may enjoy the characters, the comedy and the insight into how a real garage works. The fact that its in the Costa del Sol makes it even more interesting...
But why have we not seen another series? I believe an entire series HAS been shot and is currently under lock and key with no plans to show it. Indeed this is what the Discovery Channel said themselves on the website forums.
I may have the answer to why the new series has never been shown.
You may recall if you have seen the show that there are a number of somewhat 'dodgy' characters who have taken their cars to Jock. Rememeber the likes of Mr. Mussilini - you can catch him on youtube.
But to get to the point, perhaps the reason why the new series is not going to be shown is the fact that one of Jock's most loyal customers has gone missing and vanished into thin air with the strong possibility of organised criminal activity being involved.
Peter Hutcheon, aka Lord Hutcheon (as the show called him and as his is known on the costa) who appears frequently in the show (Jock fixing his Bentley Arnage's roof, and fixing his squeaky Ferrari 360 Spider's brakes) vanished a couple of years ago and has not been seen since...
If you have seen the show, he was a scouser with a ponytail who classed himself as a 'money lender', in one episode he even carried round a bag of money, almost leaving it in the car at the garage..and took a call from someone seemingly wanting to borrow money against art.
Any thoughts??

I think they realised that after 2 series of watching a garage half full of crap mechanics with a crap attitude to customers cars, that they had bled it dry.
I would like to think that the show has been out under lock and key due to a victory of good taste over voyeuristic pap, yet I feel i'm being a bit optimistic
Dave!

I know the one you mean, would they stop such a popular series because of something like this?Robert
No I don't think that was him, if I remember correctly that jag needed new exhaust fitted and they tried to bosch it and instead of a rubber mounting holding the rear section they made a steel bracket so the exhaust had absolutely no give whatsoever!
You can see a picture of Lord Hutcheon by googling his name and missing persons.
He was usually seen in the garage wearing a jacket, shades and ponytail, mobile phone in hand saying something like 'in my business you have to have a good image, image is everything'.
He was also seen at one of his business interests he co owned, some champagne bar at on the beach where the mechanics hung out. I think you had to wear white only.
Another episode he was having lunch out with Jock after Jock fixed his Ferrari.
He always was looking for a discount from Jock for the good pubilicity he always gave the garage.

All I am saying is that he was VERY high profile down in the Marbella, Puerto Banus region and was also high profile on the show with his flash image/motors.
The narrator on the show actually gave out alot of info on him to the viewers, in one episode saying where he was from and how he made his money, how many cars he had etc.. He himself wasn't exactly shy about appearing on the camera or showing off his wealth.
We all know how murky it is down there, with drug money, gangs, organised crime, ex-pat criminals, costa del crime etc.
The guy has totally disappeared, completely vanished, no one has seen him since around the time that series must of being filmed.
I believe the channel would love to show the new series as there was a pretty big following. However, maybe there is a serious criminal link here which means the next series of The Garage can never be shown.

I think it was the same guy that in one episode either Jock, or one of his Mechanics, went off to the guys house but they mentioned they couldn't film inside for 'privacy reasons' or something. Seemed strange that the guy seemed happy enough to splash himself across the programme but wouldn't let his driveway/garage get filmed...You can see a picture of Lord Hutcheon by googling his name and missing persons.

I doubt a guy like that would just do a runner, I would not be at all surprised if there was something more sinister behind it.
yeah I remember now, they filmed his row of cars at his house.
Sinister is probably the right word, people don't just disappear.
Jock and that garage were at the centre of a few dodgy goings on, and I don't mean their repair jobs on cars!
Think about it, Mr. Mussilini, Peter "Lord" Hutcheon, and his CLOSE ties to the Lineker bars, strip joints. Remember Wayne Lineker spent time recently at her majesty's pleasure for money laundering/tax evasion.
All these guys went to Jocks. And they are the ones who didnt mind being filmed, I bet there was a few more who for good reason (british police, or rival gangs) did not want to be filmed.
Was Jock's garage inadvertantly the centre of some expat criminal ring.
And remember in one of the last episodes, Jock goes to the BMW dealer and picks up a brand new black BMW M5, around 80000 euros worth. Can you afford one of those running a garage.
Perhaps, theres more to it all. This is all speculation of course.

Perhaps Jock Campbell got Lord Hutcheon bumped off for an unpaid bill?
I did actually like The Garage keep noticing it's on but it's always repeats. Now I know why.
Now I know this is just TV editing for you, but it was always amusing that they'd be in the middle of a busy week or a big job and suddenly it'd cut to them snowboarding! (or some other random activity)
