Unfortunatly it is, theres alot more damage where the external roll bar has pushed the roof in and also twisted the back panels. They are seeing what they can do with it but it'll never be the same.

As sad as it is, its just a car, and a rally car no matter what it's history is, crashes happen, it has done well to survive this long anyway!

1990 would be a prefix surely? Maybe the car was only registered in 1990 or something.

Irrelivent really though. RIP old escort frown

Yeah I just realised, it's probably one of Ford's private plates.

Was built specially in 1990 to celebrate the 30 years since the original car FEV 1H won the Daily Mirror World Cup rally in 1970. biggrin

The car now bearing the reg H1 FEV started it's ralling career in 1993 in the 25 year anniversary re-run of the 1968 London to Sydney rally, build by Webster and Lancaster, entered by FMC with Gavin Green (Car Magazine) as driver. It was then prepared by Historic Motor Sport for the 25 year anniversary re run of the 1970 London to Mexico rally with Hannu driving again and he of course won it, it was for this event that it got it's current reg which is a referance to the original 1970 winning car (FEV 1H). Since then it has earned it's keep at Ford one way and another as a PR tool, and a very good job it does.
It's repairs are now completed and it will be very busy again.
