My wife sent the forms and a cheque to renew her driving licence at the beginning of October.

New licence comes back in a couple of weeks.

Today she gets a letter from the DVLA saying that the cheque had been returned by her bank.

I check it out and the cheque has never been presented to the bank and to confirm this she has not had any charges from the bank, as they love to do when they return a cheque.

So what are the DVLA up to?

I'd guess that they have lost the cheque and are trying it on.
They are saying her licence will be marked as invalid from the end of this month if she does not phone up with a credit/debit card or send a postal order for the £20.

Before anyone says it.......yes I know that the DVLA are incompetent, but this is a new one to me!

always remember when dealing with the dvla where they are based and that this may explain what happens to your application;

Vixpy, I know what you mean, it's just that I'd not come across level of stupidity before.

Not sure but I think you have to send a a cheque/PO when sending the renewal, you have to send a new photo and the renewal form so sending a cheque/PO is not that unreasonable.

BTW did you notice the use of 'you' and not 'u' wink
