Do Couriers work Saturdays?
Discussion
Ordered a new toy yesterday. Website details said order by 1pm (and pay the courier fee) and you'll get the goods in 24 hours.
I know every other website I've been to offer a special saturday delivery, but this one had nothing specific - just a 24 hour delievery if ordered by 1pm. It didn't arrive, so I called the website, and was told that couriers never work saturdays, and it says words to that effect in our T&C's. It doesn't - just order by 1pm for a next day delivery - but they don't ship stuff out at the w/e or bank holidays - Ok I though I had the email at 11:40 friday morning to say it had shipped.
So now I've stumped up the courier cost when ordinary post would have done. Bugger!

it is usually determined as next (working) day delivery
sat AM is a premium service, and as such costs approx £30 extra upto 20 kilos
Guess I know that now. Website was a little misleading, and so were they on the phone saying it's in the T&C's, even though it wasn't. sat AM is a premium service, and as such costs approx £30 extra upto 20 kilos
What's worse now is that had I gone with the Royal Mail - the post people leave it on my property somewhere (safe). Now it's a courier, we won't be in on Monday, so on top of the bloody fee, I'll now have to travel somewhere distant to pick it up. :doubledrat:

Helps if like us you have a door that's not easily visible from the road and you're comfortable leaving your signature for someone...
I work Saturdays if required but not doing regular parcel stuff. Not many do.
Had a great drop yesterday - package, too big for letter box, client not in had authorised us to leave it and put note through door, pissing rain, nowhere obviously dry.
Walk all around property, gardens, outbuildings.
Aha, cat kennel! Wrapped package in plastic bag and placed in kennel. Note through client's door, text to control to say exactly what done in case customer missed note.
Job done.
(I'll leave out the rant about houses with names (no number at all) written in dull lettering on a dark background on a dull day, but huge thanks to Mr Postie for pointing me in the right direction)
