Anyone used MPB Photographic?
Discussion
I've been watching the canon outlet on ebay but am getting bored of being outbid by the same person.
All the recent 40D's have been won by the same person with the bidder below being the same one on each for exactly the same amount each time (to the penny.). The winner has private feedback which is stated as 28 currently yet has the following stats,
30-Day Summary
Total bids: 618
Items bid on: 561
Bid activity (%) with this seller: 100%
Surely they are not buying the hundreds of items they are winning. The 40D's are above market rate. Someone on ebay is selling new ones for less.
It seems other people are shill bidding as well based on the ebay tutorial of what is and isn't allowed. So its not uncommon on there items it would seem.
So i'm thinking of buying one of the ones from MPB Photographic instead, does anyone on here have any experience of them at all.
They have 2 regarded as good condition at £450 each one with an extra battery. I'm going to ask about actuation count and sensor cleanliness. Then may purchase one of those unless anyone knows a good reason not too.
Any experience you can give would be useful.
Cheers.

Is it some sort of bizarre scam? I tried three times to sell my D80 on ebay only for it to be won by the same person each time who then tried to persuade me to ship it before 'payment would be approved by paypal' Clearly an attempted scam.
I only managed to sell it in the end by spotting his bid going in and cancelling it 2 hours before the end. He had bid nearly £500 so clearly was going to win!

MPB Photographic were recommended by someone on here, I know I keep checking their secondhand Canon lenses, sooner or later my trigger finger is going to slip!
ETA: Just done a quick search and it seems that at least Podie and SamHH have both bought from them before and seem happy with them.

Yes.Win the auction - pay by cheque or Paypal, get goods shipped, then either the cheque is bogus, or the buyer claims the goods never arrived. Instant refund by Paypal.
NB - this is in reference to the original post's first query, NOT MPB.

I had the same problem with eBay and particularly the Canon outlet. It seems traders are bidding wholesale on items and using automatic bidding, swamping the ordinary bidder. In the end I managed to win a printer but only because they didn't want it!
ETA a quick look just now shows one entity bidding on 70 Canon items.

I bought a lens from MPB and it was better than described, arrived quickly and they charged me what they said they would.
They definitely under-sell their kit. My 500 prime was as good as new (minus box) but was described as "showing slight signs of use". My 85 f1.8 was supposed to have a speck of dust but i have yet to find it.I also got a cracking deal on a brand new 7D from them.
Just looked at the photos that i took at the Hillclimb. According to DPP the camera is owned by Stephen Walton.
Wonder if its this guy and if so which of the photos were taken with the 40D.
